I also have a lot of slate rock to deal with.
I was thinking there must be an abundance of rock, having been to Sevierville a few times, and I should have thought about shale. Although the land does smooth out up there northwest of Pigeon Forge, as I recall, so more dirt than rock I guess away from hills. Limestone there too. The…

  • Thanks for the wheel info.

Those wouldn’t work for me, being 108mm across lugs because my VW uses 130mm. I mistakenly mixed up Paul’s VW signature from posting your pictures.

Besides that, I didn’t find those anyhow when I searched for 4 lug Audi wheels, not with the small+large round holes anyway.
  • Sorry I can’t offer any suggestions. I can only ask what wheels are on your TDr? Look something like the original MG TD wheels to me.

  • Just now seen your new garage, talk of it was going on half year before I joined here.

I would love to have one like that, spacious with workshop. I’m on just as hilly a place, even moreso, but the real problem here is the rocks. Some parts of the ground have solid slabs going all across the hilltop, almost certain to require blasting for the…

  • I’ve learned something, thanks! I wouldn’t know any differences from a TA, TB or TC.

Didn’t look at the photos at that museum until now, looks like a nice place.
I like the car shown in front of a covered bridge, especially since that’s what I’ve been sightseeing the past few years.
    I had seen a 3-wheel Messerschmitt at a cruise-in a couple summers…

  • Good to see you here!

When I got my car and joined up 9 months ago I wasn’t sure how many people were still going to be talking about these cars, much less becoming new owners or builders still. Is an old kit car after all.
  • Something like the Mercedes Gazelle maybe, doors and bumpers anyway. From what little I know of those.

  • What a great way to show the car without leaving it outside. Although I think part of the reason for insurers wanting “classic” cars to be garaged is to be locked and hidden away. Don’t know if that’s true.

  • Seems to be a TC model from before the TD, narrow and short fenders. Love the color, of course, blue’s my favorite.

Or would make a great tree ornament at a smaller size. Looks like a red foil covering it.

I didn’t notice where I was posting before, Chevy/Ford, mine being VW.
Maybe the builder was meant to finalize the plate with whatever “model” it was to be.
Can see that Al’s red car has the model portion imprinted differently from ID, or appears to be different to me.

Looking that over I realized there wasn’t an oil dipstick, not that I can see anyhow. Maybe that cap is really a dipstick inside that tube?

Still not knowing much of anything about VW’s there’s no way I would know if that was a certain model year but it almost seems original to that particular engine.

Mine wasn’t mounted anywhere, the PO/builder had put it into a notebook of pictures and paperwork about the car.

Here’s the picture of it I posted elsewhere a while ago, and as you can see the model was left blank. I’ve yet to see, or rather look for, something on any part of the car.
I only know the metal plate matches what’s on the paper title.

Those are some nice Christmas C a r ds!

Merry Christmas! And another happy birthday to my brother today!
  • Bob replied to the topic New owner in TX in the forum Membership 9 years, 7 months ago

Christmas-like pair, red and white. Those colors together remind me most of Valentines Day!

I can only imagine what would happen if I were to be seen out with another TDr anyplace. So many people ask about my car already they would be wondering even more about 2.
  • Great new car! And my favorite color.

I was looking at those Veloster’s over a year ago and really wanted to get one. Sporty looking thing. Unfortunately I found out about KIA Forte with driver seat ventilation (leather with heat too) and Hyundai didn’t have that. It was something I had wanted for years and years, and although I wasn’t sold on the…

  • You’ve probably thought about anchoring it down good already, for the sake of keeping it from flying away in a strong wind. I’m curious what you’ll end up building as a liftable design.

Necessity is the mother of invention. I needed a place for my motorcycle and a simple cover wasn’t going to be enough. Easily put together a 2X4 and plywood shed…

Clickable link to your car picture. If you used the Insert Hyperlink button the http:// portion of it needs to be left out or else it won’t go into your messages right, since that already adds it for you. I’m not sure if there’s another way… maybe [ URL]link address[ /URL] ?

Thanks Tex aka Bill!  (edit) And now Steve too.

I tried a gopro facsimile camera my brother gave me but only place I found to attach it was the top bow which made the camera hang upside down. Thinking I could invert the video somehow and that didn’t work out so I need another way.
Holding a regular camera is not the way to do it!

  • Okay, I’m not sure if that was a real idea or just some whimsical thinking to have a cup holder on a running board. 😆  Seems like door would hit it there or need an extremely tight fit to cup/bottle.

One built of wood for the place between seats, yeah, I think I’ve seen someone has done that before. Now whether or not I could actually craft o…
