When using a tow dolly, the front wheels can go on the dolly
September 6, 2024 at 8:02 pm #309076I have towed my London Roadster and my 1967 VW Beetle flat with a tow bar. Put the gear shift in neutral and DO NOT tie the steering wheel. You CANNOT back up with a car on a dolly or a tow bar. If your tow vehicle is rated anything over 2500 lbs, you should keep an eye on the towed car to make sure it is still there. You won’t feel it. I have used s tow dolly before and it was more trouble than a tow bar.
August 27, 2024 at 1:41 pm #309033It all depends on too many factors. If the car is in great shape snd the engine and tranny are good, you may have gotten a great deal, indeed.
August 21, 2024 at 11:11 am #309028If the link does not work, there are twp MG TD replicas on ebay right now. Each is listed at $14,000. No auction. Buy it now.
August 20, 2024 at 5:02 pm #309026After my London Roadster road worth and I could drive it again, I wanted insurance coverage with Hagerty at agreed value. I looked at current prices for running kit cars in good condition.
August 10, 2024 at 6:35 am #308991Wow! That’s more than I paid for two speedometer rebuilds.
August 9, 2024 at 6:54 am #308988North Hollywood Speed shop in California ir Dick’s Speed & Tach in Tempe (Phoenix), Arizona are two of the remaining repair shops.
August 7, 2024 at 1:35 pm #308982I do no not have s mouse with left and right buttons. Yet I will try this.
July 6, 2024 at 11:50 am #308931Thank you very much.
July 4, 2024 at 10:35 pm #308924Yes even living close by, they wanted the speedo out of the car.
July 4, 2024 at 7:45 pm #308921The speedometer should be repairable. There are two dhops that I know of that dtill repair old speedos.
One is in Tempe, Arizona (next door to Phoenix) called Dick’s Speed O Tach. The other is North Hollywood Speedometer in North Hollywood, California. (Near Los
Angeles)I do not have their phone or address numbers handy, yet I have used both. Dick’s usually has a quicker turn around time, yet both are good.
April 19, 2024 at 12:37 am #308833The knob in the car now is wood with the correct VW shift pattern. Mine twists, also. I have ordered the MG shift pAttern knob and will try it out. I’ll report back after s few shows locally. I’ll see if anyone notices.
March 22, 2024 at 7:43 pm #308793That Carburetor really likes to drink the fuel. I am not used to such a gas hog. The engine is about a 1776cc VW. If I go back to a Solex Carb, I have s few questions
First, which Solex carb would be correct for a 1776 VW engine?
Will I lose power by going to a less thirsty carburetor?
March 3, 2024 at 1:05 am #308782Thanks people, the London Roadster has since had a fuel cell installed so I need to raise the bonnet at each fuel stop. Gone are the days of the fuel inlet neck squeezing down to one-inch and causing back-flow fuel spillage every time at fuel stops.

January 23, 2024 at 2:49 am #308750Very nice!
December 29, 2023 at 10:46 pm #308736One book you should have in your library if you own an air-cooled VW engine is How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive Step By Step Procedures for the Compleat Idiot by John Muir.
It is out of print, yet there seem to be plenty of used ones on eBay and Amazon or even antique stores in your area.
Even if you don’t do the work yourself, you should get a better understanding of Air-Cooled VW engines.
November 4, 2023 at 10:08 pm #308705Thank you for the information. That is helpful. I will seriously reconsider.
November 3, 2023 at 7:12 pm #308702Yet WHY? A member in my kit car club did it with little problem. What issues did you have?
November 1, 2023 at 1:53 pm #308697We didn’t win a prize this time, yet we had a good time.
I discovered the night before the show, that the rim if my hubcaps is metal, yet the “wire” spikes are a chrome poly.
Apparently the company that made the metal-spike hub caps that rusted, is out of business. Maybe I will start saving up for real wire wheels.November 1, 2023 at 1:44 pm #308696Ifled is very common – just kidding. Its a bad typo for idle.
October 28, 2023 at 9:58 am #308693Thanks for the positive information.
Ive only driven the car about 18-20 miles for far. I think the iflecis set too low. The engine stalls when I down shift at stop lights.July 7, 2023 at 6:13 pm #308547Good for her.
June 29, 2023 at 3:58 pm #308539I’ll be getting a new top for my London Roadster hopefully this year. Any convertible top shop or sail maker probably could make one.
June 29, 2023 at 3:45 pm #308538I ended up with outdoor cover for a ‘52 MG TD from California Car Cover Co. The London Roadster is a little smaller than a real TD, so the fit is loose. Yet it stays on and keeps weather out. It does not keep the feral cats from sleeping in it.
February 11, 2023 at 9:25 pm #308370That’s good to know. Mine didn’t come with them. I’ll be ordering some very soon.
