Mark,
It has to be. It’s nothing we admins can control.
But, unless we have someone here that can rebuild the site, we might lose a lot of the pages, like the history, the manuals, the photo galleries.
And I have no idea how much web hosting fees would be elsewhere. -

Hi Folks,I have received some inquiries from members, new and old.Because of our donations last year about this time, and more that came in during the year, we are good to go for the next year.I’m assuming our bill will not change by much for 2011 to 2012.If it does, I may be back. But for now, we’re covered!

(Please read the prior sentence as it it were dripping with sarcasm. The sarcasm you would get from a teenager. In New Jersey!)Enough already!I get it!Really!Truly!I’m deleting dozens of spam posts each day. And…[Read more]

Man, the spam is getting worse and worse.
Ya’ll never really see it, but we have always been hit by auto-registration programs that add fictitious members. That is fairly easy to deal with, as there is an admin tool to batch delete members that have never made a post.
But lately, as I’m sure you have noticed, there have been dozens and dozens o…[Read more] -

A picture is worth a thousand words. And in this case, really drives home Mark’s point about the bolt holes:

The five bolt VW pattern is probably unique too. In case you need to know, it’s 205mm. The five bolt drum is also reinforced where the bolt holes…[Read more] -

Here are a bunch of MP Lafer links.

But a lot of the linked sites appearto have been untouched for years. -

And Mr. Lafer ALWAYS insisted he did not create an MG TD replica.
Sure looks like one to me tho.

Those are VW wheels and VW hubcaps (with no center logo).
The wheels are painted in the correct MG TD silver, available from Eastwood. The description talsk about wire wheels, but this is the correct silver for the steel wheels:

Can’t even tell you how I foudn it. I think I had googled MG TD images, trying to find good photos of original MG TD wheels.
Let’s just say the orange TD sort of stood out on the image search results page!

Also, a comment on the IRS comments posted by BDriver and GunFighter.
Everything you guys said is correct. Technically the old VW swing axle suspensions are “independent” because the rear wheels move independently of each other.
But…and this is a big but…
In air-cooled VW circles, IRS will always mean the non-swing axle suspension. So if you…[Read more] -

Best I can tell, c6024 MAY be an out of production Gabriel Gas Ryder shock absorber.
There has been lots of debate here as to the best shocks for our VW based TD replicas. And the common wisdom is standard oem equivalent oil-filled shocks.
Here is the thread with the most comprehensive VW suspension discussion on our forum:
