Most (but not all) LPs are chambered now. It’s a pretty significant routing of the body before the cap is glued on. A chambered LP weighs about 8 pounds.Always a hearty debate raging on the Gibson forums about whether chambering improves or harms the sound. I had tried all sorts of Tele’s and Strats. Just not for me. The LP is and always will be…[Read more]

Leveling is easy.Portable air pump. Change tire pressures up or down as necessary until level.

How true. But working on ’em is fun too.And were it winter, us northerners would be freezing our fingers off (and other critical body parts), except for the lucky ones with heated garages,

Beautiful guitar Rich! Must have been one hell-u-va Christmas tree to hang a Les Paul and a chair on it! Was your LP a Christmas gift? My LP was a 50th birthday gift!I have an Epiphone DOT (which I got signed by Les Paul) and one of the original Blue-Silverburst Gibson Les Paul Robots (basically a Custom, with the auto tuning electronics). And…[Read more]

Now that is awesome! And Rich, I love your “story”. See now I would have figured things like this usually start with unusual amounts of “refreshing” beverages! Kinda the corollary to …disaster will follow any action that begins with Hey guys, watch this….!

I bet most people thought it was an original (since it was on a tow truck)! ha! -

Hi gang,My first practical use of the registry that I keep pestering about.Ringo’s (aka Steve) Duchess has a 2.3 L Ford. I’m ashamed to admit this, but I once failed to properly tighten the distributor hold down bolt on my 65 Plymouth. Of course the distributor moved, threw off the timing and engine went dead. Just a thought, although I am sure…[Read more]

This wheel is flat,

Grant’s standard adaptor is about four inches. They sell a low profile adaptor that is about two inches.
And this is an interesting option, based on original VW steering wheels.

Dan must have some fancy modern filler neck.
My Duchess is just an open pipe, with one 90 degree bend to the tank. And of course the ’65 Plymouth is just a straight pipe into the tank too; the old “behind the license plate” pipe

Ringo hit the bulls-eye.
I have the same issue with my MG and when I’m filling my 1965 Plymouth.
The vapor recovery systems on today’s pump nozzles cause the pump to be over-sensitive to back-pressure. The straight run into my Plymouth and MG gas tanks allows the air/vapors to “rush” back to the nozzle to quickly; confusing the pump into t…[Read more] -

Mel,I just did a bunch of wandering around dune buggy web sites. The more I see, the more I think the mirror you selected will work. At worst you might have to grind away a bit of the inner surface to match the exact contour of your frame.

Mel,Missing in all the alledged jocularity is an actual answer to your question about the frame dimensions. I did not get a chance tonight but will try tomorrow (unless someone beats me to it).I can tell you the shape of the inset on the mirror you are considering is correct in the way it tapers towards the front.Just from memory, the windshield…[Read more]

Vapor lock usually occurs when the car has been run and turned off, The gas in the line overheats, vaporizes and you cannot restart the car.It takes more heat to vaporize the gas when it’s flowing, so your engine compartment must have been really…really hot.And about the “flowing gas is cooler” thing….when I was a teenager, my next door…[Read more]

Great result Rollie. The improvement is likely a combo of the oil change and the exhaust change. But yes. I think the extractors could have created your heat problem. Hold you hand next to the new muffler after a long run and you’ll see how hot it gets. Moving that heat down and away from the engine wasa good thing!
