Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Heater Duct Picture Wanted in the forum VW Based Kits 9 years, 11 months ago
Allen,Not a direct comparison, but in my Duchess, flexible duct is clamped to the heater boxes and simply enters the passenger compartment through holes in the fiberglass. Nothing holds it under the seats. It’s so stiff, all the support it requires comes from sitting in the holes.I don’t have boxes under my seat. It’s all open at the front. The…[Read more]

Now you’ve got me thinking Steve. Thanks!
ÂThe lower attachments would have to be a little different; the engine cover is shaped different on a Duchess and the engine cover is hinged at the bottom, not the top.ÂBut the overall concept could work on a Duchess.PMOSSBERG2015-11-13 15:42:44

That’s awesome Steve.Your TDr is VW based, correct? How to the upper brackets attach to the car? Or maybe to the engine cover? Hard to tell from your pics. How do the upright legs attach at the bottom? Are you still able to open the engine cover?

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Review of RetroSound in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 11 months ago
Allen,I only have the two 6 1/2″ speakers in the back. Nothing up front.Yes, I can easily hear the music from “back there,” even on the highway.”Back there” isn’t very far back. The speakers are probably about two feet from my ears.Bass frequencies are omni-directional. That’s why your home theater or sound system can get away with a single…[Read more]

Thanks for the review!I’m consideration a Retrosound head unit for my Intermeccanica. They have a model that is period correct for a 59 Porsche, and also have the correct faceplate.I don’t need to replace the speakers. But If I did, I would not buy them from Retrosound. If you want to stay online, I highly recommend Crutchfield. They’ve been in…[Read more]

I don’t even see a car. 😉
ÂBut if I could see it, I would agree with the above Berry Mini-T assessment. -

There were a bunch of rear facing Speedsters too.
ÂAnd same cars featured in multiple spins, perhaps inferring some driver input to the process as well. 😉 -

“Narrow ball joints” sounds odd. Don’t understand why the existing trailing arms, ball joints etc. would not work with the narrowed beam. But narrowed torsion bars are required. The tubes are shorter, the bars inside must also be shorter.

If it feels like it does not want to let go…You can use fishing line as a “saw.” Slip it between the emblem and the car and sort of saw through the foam. The line is strong enough to cut the foam, but will not scratch the paint/gel coat. You’ll be left with the old foam on the car, but that just means a little more elbow grease on final…[Read more]

Hmmm….Not sure what to say to that Allen. When I read through the title info on SEMA SAN, I thought I read that kit cars will carry the year the car was completed as the “model year.” That seemed to translate to also receiving a title. For what it’s worth, I really dislike the “non-title” approach that some states use for antiques. It complicates…[Read more]

Great to see someone who has gone through the Georgia process chime in!Jim (css4000)…do we have it essentially correct? You had a title in hand before you went for insurance and registration, right?

Allen, hope you don’t mind, but since you were asking questions about the title, registration process and how that interacts with the insurance process, I changed the Title of the thread to match.I’ve preached on this before…I truly believe we are building a valuable archive of info here, one post at a time. And we should try to keep that in…[Read more]
