Ringo, I saw some of those sites about the duraspark and I’m sure that’s a solution. For those unaware duraspark was Fords anwser to the old point and condenser issue. Apparently you can go to a salvage yard and get what you need. I saw the Pertronix as more of a turn key solution ie take out the points, bolt the new module in and splice so…[Read more]

Hawk, perhaps just replacing the tired springs would help. I replaced my leaf springs on my ford based product and it resolved my bottoming out. I considered adding coil over shocks as well but have other priorites at the moment.

Did some investigation on my fuel system gauge not working this weekend. It appears the sender has failed. Just ordered a new sender Auto Meter part number 3262, 240 OHM, $39. I’ll have it to install this weekend. My tank is the same size as Rich’s and I have the Vintage Reproductions gauges so hopefully the original sender which is marked as…[Read more]

Dan, I would be interested in a pair PM me your address and a check will be in the mail. I was thinking of working on this bracket this summer.
Thanks,Rob -
Rob Baker replied to the topic HeadLight mount bracket in the forum General Discussion 16 years, 8 months ago
Dan, looks great but I have an issue with that same bracket. It seems that this bracket is just glassed into the fender and my bracket is loose. On a rough road the bracket is rubbing against the fiberglass making a annoying sound. Does anyone have a fix for this problem.
Sorry this is off topic but your effort reminded me of a problem of mine…[Read more] -

You may need to undo the return line to flush the system.
Undo return line at pump. plug that fitting at the pump. Keep the powersteering resivour full while turning the wheel all the way left to all the way right several times with the car running. Have a bucket to catch the return line fluid. Turn off the engine and rehook up the return li…[Read more] -
Rob Baker replied to the topic Ford 2.3 weight in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years, 8 months ago
I’ll get my weights next week and post them it’s on my todo list. There is a town dump scale I believe I can use. I’m sure my tax dollars contributed to the purchase of the scale correct 🙂 4 corner weights is probably overkill for a cruiser with limited suspension adjustment. I’ll get the weights with 200 lb in the drivers seat, my stealth body.

Color, do you have the donor Chevette and if so is it running and how many miles on it?
I can’t do it but these seem to be resonable questions to get the ball rolling. -

Sounds like a healthy engine, hope your brakes are as well. I have to stand on my brakes to get them to slow the car 🙂

Rob Baker replied to the topic Lift Kit to install in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years, 8 months ago
Replaced my rear leaf springs this weekend and I would say it was a partial success. Before I started I measured from the ground to the top of the arch the rear fenders drivers side was 26, passenger side was 26 ?, so I?m leaning left and low. After I cut the new springs the installation was pretty straight forward. Not necessary easy but pr…[Read more]

I may delay cocktail hour tonight and spend some quality garage time in NH. Think I got all the tools together and have printed out the Monroe catalogue as I’m prepared to order some coil over shocks or as Monroe calls them today “load adjusting shock”. I’ll have to study what’s there as I didn’t build this car. I’ll report back on Monday as to…[Read more]

Yes these springs will need to be cut per the build instructions. The car doesn’t sit right the rear drivers side is actually lower then the passenger side, without the driver in the car. I’ll put the new springs in which should get everything realigned and then troubleshoot if things still aren’t right. With two of us in the car we can bot…[Read more]

Rich, I have a 65 Cobra (FFR replica) in Ma this car is housed in Moultonboro, NH so it’s a Northern toy. Now if I only had more time to enjoy all the toys.

Hopefully it will get me to the ice cream shop and back this weekend. Still have some work to do on it but hopefully nothing that will stop me from enjoying it this summer.
