Any signs of wear on the gear at the bottom of the distributor?

Rob Baker replied to the topic Emissions in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years, 10 months ago
Keep in mind that some states will have specific rules relative to emissions and KitCars. I know in MA last year they said that all the emissions that were originally on the donor car had to be incorporated on the KitCar. So if your donor vehicle had cats then your KitCar would also need them. Same with air pump, egr valve, o2 senors and the re…[Read more]

Looking at it I would say you may have more luck cutting that damage section out, shaping a new piece and weld the new piece back on then out to the chrome shop.
New piece would probably be cheaper. -

I’m going to buffalo ny on Sunday to hopefully pick up a Jaguar xk-120 kit unbuilt as a retirement project. I purchased it and pending inspection will complete the transaction. Ebay does make me nervous but so far this transaction seems fine.

Now that I got it all back together again 🙂
Great suggestion but can I use a hole saw 🙂
I’ll have to look and see could be a little difficult getting everything lined up. Small peep hole first to see if I get close. Thanks for thinking out of the box.
It certainly would be easier then taking the whole frontend apart. -

You got it right I got all but two the two top most bolts holding the trans to the engine. I could feel the heads of the bolts but no way of getting a wrench in there.
Will get to this flywheel some day when I can’t stand the starter engagement noise any longer. Need to add the auto trans fluid and take it around the block to hear the muffler b…[Read more] -

Pink,
I installed, per your suggestion, a dynamax turbo muffler this weekend sounds great so far in the garage.
thanks for the advise.
Tried also to pull the trans this weekend out the bottom, to replace the flywheel. No way to separate the engine from the automatic so I think my only alternative is to pull the engine and trans as a unit out th…[Read more] -

The current muffler is just in front of the rear bumper (too visible). I’m thinking of moving it forward under the passenger seat where I think it belongs. The muffler is kind of small and loud. Flowmaster’s can be loud but some models are not as loud. I’ll look into the Walker brand to see what’s available, thanks

Rich, sorry about that I have edited that post and took the vendors name off of it. However you may have luck going to any sign vendors shop to have these made. As a one off I don’t think there should be a copyright problem.

Rob Baker replied to the topic Insignia being created in the forum General Discussion 17 years, 1 month ago
Sorry guys but I was told by the vendor who initially created these insignias for me that he is unable to create any more or these insignias because of copyright issues. It’s a sign of the times and vendors have to protect themselves.
It was my mistake to think that a vendor could do this in any sort of volume without getting into trouble -

Looks like a dupe of mine right down to the wheels. Mine is based on a 1974 Mustang 2.3 which is probably the same as the pinto drive train. I’m going thru it now fixing some oil leaks and this weekend a new flywheel, I hope. Should have it registered in the spring. Thinking of swapping out the points distributor for an electronic one.

Pink,
I will not be hotrodding the MG, just going to get it to run and perform well. The brakes need help (manual) as well as a mutitude of other things that I should be able to overcome.
My wife isn’t wild about the cobra since it’s got a lot of acceleration with 4.10 gears. It’s clearly a Man’s toy. We have a pretty active local Cobra gro…[Read more] - Load More
