Now looking like a late run up to Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Just found out today i have a training thing at work until 3 p.m. Four hours’ drive & we probably won’t get underway much before five. Which means rush hour, which means another hour on the road. Thinking 10 p.m. Dang.

Pool at 106 degrees? Bummer. I lived in south Florida for about 6 years (Pine Island) and after a year, installed an in ground pool only to discover that in the summer when you really wanted to cool off, it was too darned hot to get in. Tried running the solar panels at night hoping that they would radiate enough heat to cool it off. No joy. …[Read more]

Bump.
Anyone else up for any shenannigans around the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix? Karen and I are booked at the Century Inn Wednesday night through Saturday. Anyone have any Friday or Saturday plans? I’m kind of wanting to check out the Saturday festivities in the park. -

Had a Hillclimb official stop and give the car a pre tech inspection tech inspection. I didn’t want to be turned away at the event for forgetting something. The car had some minor items to correct.(place covers on the battery cable ends, grind the upper corner of the kill switch plate into a radius and get a fire extinguisher with one with a metal…[Read more]

The bumper and fenders move together on the suspension. What you want ideally is a bumper that is level and both fenders even, in relation to it. Neither issue is related to ride height.

Don’t think anyone has attempted. Just to know: the MG hub is a small spline shaft, certainly on some oddball British standard. The way to adapt it, I think, would be a hog-out and weld (or epoxy)-in method using whatever spline pipe you salvaged out of an original Chevette steering wheel.
The other way would be to buy an original TD wheel with the… -

Would putting back one or two torsion bars raise the body height at rest or stiffen the suspension to resist body roll in hard turns?”Putting a couple of torsion bars back would do both. But, it involves quite a bit of work. You may want to experiment with “coil over shocks” which would allow you to raise the front and do a certain amount of l…[Read more] -

When I was painting mine after fixing accident damage I was sanding other intact badly oxidized panels and discovered good color underneath. Try a spot with 800 or 1000 grit paper. Sand it then polish it. If it doesn’t respond, then paint it.

Baytown, Considering where you live, I’d recommend taking it to one of the reputable boat yards in your area. They can either bring back the shine or tell you how best to do it.

Well, with being stuck and undriveable, its back to doing bodywork. You saw the cardboard rear box at Carlisle. Its time to fix that.
Aluminum foil covering the original rear box, then one layer of fiberglass cloth.
Second layer of glass cloth.
Semi-sturdy shell.
Cut down for initial fit.Now to make a mold of the original cover from the bottom and…[Read more]

Well, yet another shake down, er, break down run. A little 2″ cable that pulls on the clutch fork broke. Better now than on the Hillclimb. The tow truck driver now knows my family and dogs by name. He becoming like family.
