Hey Ed,,,
the good news is that now I can take the winter to relocate my e-brake & replace the single circuit master cylinder with the dual circuit one that has been sitting in the shed waiting for me for the past 6 months or so…………that way I will be better able to slow down quickly and safely in case I see another DMV officer in an… -

Calm down Roy, you’re starting to repeat yourself. Ed, it simply fell apart. We’ll meet again in the spring at Carlisle and plan for VA Beach in the fall. Take the time to sort out (install turbo on) Brigette.

Good info, Roy. This hose looked thick, but I don’t know what its ID was.
Dropped off the heads at Agile, an office full of racing Subarus. The turbo intercooler on the blue car is just about twice as big as Bridget’s radiator. That is what 650 hp looks like.I told them I will be very happy with my stock 135.edsnova2014-09-27 16:40:31

Ed, nobody (I mean NOBODY) would accuse yosu of not playing your heart out. It was a “TDr Team” loss. Wait til next year.We TDr club needs some new blood. I was hoping for 10 cars this year. Was not to be. We’ll get ’em next time.

For the next time (if it applies): Recently, I was trying to get a stubborn bolt off. Impact wrench and air compressor at my max of 140#. No joy. Changed from 5/16″ diameter air hose to 1/2″. “Bripped” it right off. Hose diameter really matters.

I feel somehow responsible for this disaster.

edward ericson replied to the topic Soob sorting in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years ago
Heads are off. Dan, the neighbor, rolled his compressor down the street and into my garage and handed me his impact wrench. I bripped the bolts with that for a minute or two, and they still wouldn’t budge.
Then Dan got out my breaker bar and got one loose, then another. He handed me that and, with him holding the engine still, I got the last two… -

Darn it! Down to 3 (if I go). Schu, now you’ve got me re-thinking my plans. I really was going to meet up with all my TDr buddies, but if Bill (I see HappyJack almost every day) is the only one going, maybe I’ll just wait til Carlisle. Think…..think….pause…think…Decision: Bill, I hate to do it, but I’m out also. I love you, but not…[Read more]

Maybe the engine cover was installed without trimming? Seems an easy fix.
I see a few glass hacks here and there. Will need to be taken apart and re-done.Not leather. Not a ’67 pan, most likely, as it’s an IRS transaxle and ball joint front beam with four-bolt wheels.Looks like a viable project for, let’s say, $1,000. -

This TF comes with the very rare helo landing pad atop the engine cover. What’s with that?

Yep!
Neighbor’s got a proper air-powered impact wrench. I’m thinking about loading the engine on my truck and driving it over to his driveway tomorrow.Seriously though: sheesh! -

Thats what I have – originally came from MG magic – drill at dimples and use a counter sinker bit and counter head machine screws.

Ed, if you do take it to Agile, you can have them install that turbo that’s been in the back of your mind since day one. Yahooee.
