Here’s my blog on the Dust-Off ralleye. I’d like to do it again but, really, navigating is the hard job and it was a bit unfair to demand Karen do it without any equipment.
That said, an ALL- couple all-TDr ralleye would be hilarious. If only we had someone to map it out and manage it for us.That said, if anyone wants to visit MD for next year’s… -

Patti and I did a TSD Rally back in the ’80’s. We were lucky we didn’t kill each other.

Wow! ….and your marriage survived. I always tell anyone who is interested: DO NOT take your wife as a navigator. A friend is good, a wife, – never. The rallye often starts out like a sailboat race. You know – “just for fun”. They almost never end that way.

I roped Karen into the local MG club’s Get the Dust Off ralleye a coule years ago. With no trip odometer or stopwatch, it was something of a challenge. We did not win but, remarkably, we did not come in last.

Ed, that was a fun video. Thanks.
It seems that this was run as a TDS (time, distance, speed) road rallye which is quite different from a race. These guys in the video got penalized for going too fast, but in the last leg they said “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” and I don’t blame them a bit. To any of you who have never been in a ral… -

I realize its only July, but is there enough interest to contact the Hotel for group discount rates? We have three with Roy, Jack and myself. Paul, you can run with me and pick up Ed and then grab Shu again. Gabe, you can hook up along the way. It would make a splendid parade.

Gabor, Please tell me that you are going to come to Virginia Beach this October for the 4th Air and Auto Classic Show. Last year, Bill (billnparts), Ed (edsnova), Shu. and I were there and had a great time. Bill’s wife, Patti even drove her new BMW down all the way from Pa. I’ve gotta see this build of yours.

Visibility is bad enough with the tops up without the limited view through an even smaller opening.

Oval on a MGTDr. Sorry, but my opinion is: Yuk! The heavy duty zippers necessary for out tops really don’t like going around bends unless they are very gentle. I don’t think that the clear part would be without some serious wrinkles. Why not look into a roll up top like was recently discussed here. Happy Jack posted some pictures.

edward ericson replied to the topic Classic Car Insurance in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 8 months ago
They want you to insure for higher value because it allows them to charge a higher premium. I think the first couple companies I called (Hagerty may have been one of them) did not want to touch anything under $10k. I bought my car for $3500. I’ve got it insured for like $5k-$6k and the premium is about $110.

Jeff, I am currently insured with Hagerty @ 10k.
I do not have historic/antique plates. I have had them previously on other cars but decided to come clean and not cheat about the parade, holiday only etc etc usage. There are so many variables from state to state re cost of insurance, it would be no benefit to compare costs. As for the $42k ins… -

Sam, If it were mine, I would try eliminating all possible wires and contacts by: blocking and jacking the back of your TD up in the air, remove the right rear wheel, get some jumper cables and a good battery and make a good ground for the battery directly to the engine, then hook the jumper cable to the starter side of the starter solenoid and…[Read more]
