It looks like I missed ANOTHER time! I HATE it when I “jump the gun!” 😡

Like the guy says in the commercial,”WOW I could’ve had a V8!” And I was short only $1,400,000 and it could have been MINE! 😆

Thanks for the info! I recently replaced almost the entire ignition system(it needed it anyway) thinking my stalling issue was an electric issue, but was still stalling out at low rpm’s. I began thinking in the fuel direction and after reading the linked site, I’m looking at that being the culprit.
I remember in days gone by, stations of ill…[Read more]

THANKS for the link! According to the info, mine is an exchange engine of unknown origin. It makes it difficult when ordering parts, but again since so many parts are the same across the years, other than the electronic ignition, I’ve not had much trouble.
This is why I LOVE this place!!!

I live in Illinois, so visiting Blodget’s Bug Barn in person is out, but I Googled them and found their site. They seem very highly rated. Thanks for the info.
My LR has a Weber 2bbl carb, so no vacuum advance possible. I have to stick with the distributor system it came with. Also I have NO numbers stamped ANYWHERE on the engine, so it’s ANYONE’S…[Read more]

I agree. Nice car.I like the two tone look and the luggage rack. Good price to boot. He shouldn’t have much trouble selling it. May still be a little early in the season yet, but in a few more weeks it’ll be convertible season.

I’ve been going through very similar agony myself in the last few days. My local VW mechanic has been suggesting for the last few months I should change from the old style points to electronic ignition. I purchased a total ignition overhaul kit; coil, distributor cap, rotor, wires, plugs ANDÂ Compu-tronix (formerly Pertronix)electronic ignition…[Read more]

Since you hit four reds, I’d say it was more like hitting the “four cherries” on a slot machine. I think it would pay out more than four matches in the lottery (especially if you were in ILLINOIS! 😡 ) or for you cribbage players, four FIVES 😀 !!!

Nice outsidethebox thinking. 💡 What ever works! Almost every safety device on our modern cars; seat belts, rear view mirrors, windshield wipers, the list goes on and on, originated from meeting a racing need. Keep the mental gears turning!

I found this website http://imcdb.org/ while looking for the name of the car driven by George Sanders on Alfred Hitchcock’s “Foreign Correspondent”. It is great fun to visit to find just about ANY car you’ve ever seen in a movie or on T.V. 💡
It even has…[Read more]

I went to http://www.aircooled.net/vw-vin-number/, to try and get the dates for my VW donor parts, but I could NEVER get the VIN for my car figured out. It would not take any combination I put in. I was told VW stamped the original VIN on the engine block, but couldn’t find it there, either. I finally realized the “VIN” plate on the car WAS…[Read more]

The speedo on my LR went out last year and they are easy to trouble shoot. You might get kind of oily, though.
1)You’ll need to remove the grease cap from the front hub. Make sure the hole in the grease cap is nice and square. It’s made out of very hard steel, so it probably will be. If it’s rounded, replaced it.
2)While still attached to the…[Read more]

That looks SO nice! 😀 I’ve always thought tonneau covers look cool 😎 . Is your top also black? I’ve thought about getting one for my London Roadster. But the LR’s seem to be a little differently dimensioned than other TDr’s so I’m not sure about the fit.
Yours DOES look good!

My issue with taking my TDr on the interstate or highway isn’t the speed, but being the SMALLEST thing on the road. You really need to keep in mind that, other than motorcycles EVERYTHING will be BIGGER and weigh MUCH more than you. This is super important when being passed by semi’s that disrupt the wind flow around them (and YOU, too!)

When I learned to drive; back in the 1970’s, we were taught to turn 1/2 around in the seat and look over your right shoulder while backing. I have done it this way ever since.
When I learned to drive a school bus, we were taught how to back using the mirrors. It is a little trickier than the over the shoulder method but works for larger…[Read more]

I was watching part of the Barret-Jackson auction on the Velocity channel this weekend when a Shelby Cobra tribute car rolled on to the block. The host pointed out they’re just as fun but at a fraction of the cost of an original, then added,
“The CAR doesn’t know it’s a clone.”
I thought was a GREAT point! I think I’ll use it the next car show I go to.
