Thanks to all responses. I’m going to pull the carb back off and recheck everything just in case I missed something and then re-install and see what happens. Will post an update or ask more questions when that is done.

Rockyx, I also like the looks of your painted wheels. I am thinking of painting mine as well and was looking for the silver/chrome paint you used a Walmart, but couldn’t find anything that met that description. I did fine a rustoleum High Tech wheel paint in the automotive section that is recommended for both plastic and steel. Is that what you…[Read more]

KentT, yes this is the car. The red convert pictured in the article is what this guy has…except his is black with a lot of dust on it. Probably would need a repaint job.

Well your car really looks nice anyway. They obviously don’t know a good thing whan they see it. I see you still have the banjo steering wheel on the car.

Rockyx, congatulations…great job! I enjoyed reading thru your thread. It looks like you covered your dash with the same matl. used for the upholsery. Is that correct? Also, it looks like you made the dash from a piece of 1/2″ plywood..is this also correct? I haven’t started on my car yet, but I’ll redo the dash at some point, so am trying to…[Read more]

One thought, in case you haven’t already thought of it, is to cut the tunnel out and then cut a section out of the middle (however much you want to narrow it) and then glass it back together and then glass it as necessary back to the floor or as you mentioned…make it removable. Will save a lot of work over building a whole new tunnel. Just a…[Read more]

sreynolds replied to the topic Poor Body Fit in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years, 3 months ago
Allen, if you can carefully wedge something into the “U” to spread it as much as you need and then heat it with a heat gun, you may be able to get the fiberglas to “relax” to the point it will fit. You might have to make a couple of tries at it. I had an area on the floor of my Cobra cockpit that was “bucked up” and I was able to get it to lay…[Read more]

Roy, this is one of the first things I was going to do on my recent purchase since I have no idea how many miles is on the ’69 chassis. How many pints/quarts does it take to change the transaxle fliud?

sreynolds replied to the topic happy birthday in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 3 months ago
I think the reason we enjoy these cars and cars in general is that we are old enough to remember what real cars are like. Not these iPads on wheels that we have today.

sreynolds replied to the topic newbie with a fuel tank question in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years, 3 months ago
Thanks….I’ll have to start looking for an good used earlier gas tank. I think that would be the easiest route to go so I just have to shorten the filler neck. Hope I can find one locally.

sreynolds replied to the topic newbie with a fuel tank question in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years, 4 months ago
Ok..I think this pretty much explains the issue I see with my gas tank install by the PO. As it is now installed, as you look at the car from the front toward the wind shield, my gas tank is installed with the filler on the drivers side and on the corner of the tank nearest the front of the car and has a hoky rubber hose rig with a sharp angle and…[Read more]

Paul, it’s funny you should say that. I was talking with a buddy of mine yesterday who owns several VW’s and has rebuilt several engines about eventually rebuilding the engine on this car and I was saying I might go up to 1776cc’s, etc for a little more power and his comment was that for this car 1600cc’s should be plenty of power and besides you…[Read more]
