So it’s highly likely that all the crawler bots and AI information-gathering is what’s slowing our site down. At least according to our provider.
They suggest a 3rd-party “front end” (cloudflare) to put in front of our site to alleviate the problem. It’s somewhat a tricky change and will likely take the site down for a few hours while things change over. I’m going to do a bit more research in hopes of making the change soon, maybe even this weekend.
More details to come…
(fortunately it looks like we qualify for a “free” plan at Cloudflare)

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"March 12, 2026 at 2:34 pm #309490Upgraded underlying PHP version to latest… seeing if that helps. Provider was going to do it automatically in a few days anyhow. Figured I’d do it in a controlled manner instead.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"March 12, 2026 at 2:18 pm #309489If it helps your thoughts, we’re on the “cheap” plan from our provider and that’s what they are claiming the slowness is from. Donations can help us look at the next level up and perhaps better site performance.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"February 28, 2026 at 1:32 pm #309485Seems to be a bit better today. Provider has not really given any good answers. Pretty sure I’m just talking with an AI bot 🙁

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"August 6, 2025 at 1:09 pm #309403I’ve gone and blocked more countries as the junk keeps coming in.
If you are an actual person and seeing that you are blocked, please just drop us an email at the admin account, and we will unblock your location. I’m going to leave it to you to search for the admin email on the site as “proof” you are a person.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"March 4, 2025 at 9:59 am #309274Can someone else try and post a new picture? Still trying to figure if this is something with Bill’s account or site-wide. Not seeing any error messages about it what-so-ever.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"November 15, 2024 at 11:26 am #309203I have a 1982 London Roadster. The top got quite beat up by southern Florida sun and salt-water. I asked around at a few boat shops (coastal Maine), but none would take on the job. That was about 20 years ago so my memory is a bit faded as to the reasons they gave.
I ended up making a new one myself. I ruined a sewing machine and what seemed like a hundred needles but ended up with a not-so-bad job. I did not try to re-make the side window panels, just the top.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"August 8, 2024 at 12:03 pm #308985Updating this thread rather than creating a new one. There are more updates on the way. This time to the underlying operating system. Should not be a big deal.
On August 14, 2024, between 3:00 am and 4:00 am PST, we will be upgrading the operating system on your shared server from Ubuntu Focal 20.04 to Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish 22.04. During the maintenance period, you may experience up to 30 minutes of downtime for any sites hosted on that shared server.
Although it’s unlikely any action will be required on your part, we recommend taking a look at our upgrade guide for Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish , which will walk you through the upcoming change.
We will follow up with another email once the upgrade process is complete.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"May 1, 2023 at 8:28 pm #308496It appears some nefarious actor got into our good site and tried to muck things up. Not entirely sure how just yet, still tracking down a few leads. It looks like they got stuck at some point… about when the site wen’t offline. We are (and were) at the latest versions of everything so I’m looking for (a) something entirely new or (b) someone was hanging around for a long time waiting to spring into action. I did find some very old but suspicious files.
I’ve cleaned up all of what I’ve found and compared against the official code (from WordPress) and things seem to be running as they should be. I’ll be keeping an extra attentive eye on things!
While I *think* that may be everything the only sure way is to do a complete rebuild of the site. I’m going to start looking at that but won’t be able to actually do the work for another few weeks. I’ll keep you all posted.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"May 25, 2022 at 5:56 pm #308113You will also notice the “Store” is gone and replaced by a “Join” link.
We have not had anything to sell in quite some time, so the link was a bit …dated.
Also, to try and manage the spam registrations we have on and off tried different approaches. The current one will allow any current user to “invite” someone. This includes Paul and myself who I suspect will do the vast majority of the invites via the webmaster@tdreplica.com email address. Anyhow, if you click on “Join” you will see the details.
