Height isn’t my problem. Width is. (Damn those Tex-Mex combo plates!)

Oh, man. There’s a whole LIST of stuff I’d love to get my mitts on — if only I had a bucket of spare cash sitting around. 🙁

Bill Gould replied to the topic MP Lafer back on eBay in the forum Running MGTD Kits Cars for Sale 12 years, 3 months ago
All the original MP series had chromed mock grill shells, but the later TI series (like mine – photos in the gallery) had almost no chrome at all — even the bumpers were body colored. At some point, the grill shell probably got too pitted and flaky, hence the flat black grill and front bumper. If it were mine, I’d have the shell painted to match…[Read more]

What kind of kit is that? My Lafer TI has a body-colored radiator housing, but on all the other TD replica kits I’ve seen it’s chromed.

I generally like two-tone paint jobs on TDs. This one, not so sure. And the hood (bonnet?) scoop is just wrong.

Pulled the carb, replaced a gasket, installed a new fuel filter, tightened the clamps on every gas line I could get my hands on — and finally, FINALLY, got the Lafer to run again. A little chilly here (comparatively speaking, for those of you in northern climes) but sunny and great for a 40-minute top-down shakeout run while my wife and older…[Read more]

For you, Ed, quite possibly. On the other hand (or head, as it were), I look borderline goofy on a good day, and a Snoopy cap would push me into cartoonland for sure.

I’ll go for the leather jacket, but will stick with a flat cap and earmuffs for a head covering. If, that is, I can ever GET MY DANG CAR STARTED AGAIN!! 😡

There is no green that can describe my envy! We’re just getting some cool mornings and afternoons down here in Southeast Texas, and my Lafer has developed a starting problem. Arghhh!

We’ve been lucky so far. You’re a bit closer to the Gulf down there. Maybe the skeeters are working their way inland.

From one 40-year husband to another: Well done, sir. We marked that milestone in February, but didn’t celebrate it until the end of May when we took a two-week road trip through West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and up the coast of California from just north of LA all the way to San Francisco. I wish we could’ve done it in the Lafer, but didn’t…[Read more]

I’d love to find a nice 1/18 or 1/24 scale model of a TD, but nobody seems to make them now.

Al, that is without a doubt the most beautiful TD dash I’ve ever seen. Did you do that yourself, or did it come with the kit? Just gorgeous, especially with the retro radio!

My wife’s grandmother had a two-door coupe built that same year, and in the same color. Drove it almost daily until well into her 80s, and almost every time she parked it there’d be a note from a begging would-be buyer under the wiper when she returned. She finally decided she was too old too drive safely, she sold it for a token amount to the…[Read more]

Greetings, Al, and welcome to our madness! Very nice ride — especially those side curtains (custom-made?) and chromed wheels. How about some shots of the interior and the engine bay? I’m also running a Weber carb, and would be interested to see how yours is set up.

FYI, should you want to put a price to those beauties: As of April 30th, 0.5245 US Dollars = 1 Brazilian Real. Of course, you’d also have to pay for shipping from there to your driveway.
