  • I had no issue with response to question about a Dodge Ram 1500 cruising with the TDRs as I figured at a minimum I would be assumed to be the chase vehicle for towing the cars that encountered mobility problems. I for one would be reluctant to leave the car on the shoulder of the road for fear of it being scavenged for parts that are hard to come…[Read more]

Have a look in the Reference Library on left side of the site. There a couple of electrical diagram files you can download that are manufacturer specific. Personally I used the Fiberfab electrical schema as the basis for developing my own wiring diagrams that incorporates use of relays and reduced the load on the switches. Copy has been sent to…[Read more]

  • I will be seeing some of  you gentlemen on Friday afternoon at Carlisle.  I have an 8 hour drive to Mechanicsburg according to Google Map.

Where would I be finding the TDR crowd on Friday afternoon, with the Speedster people?
As I do not yet trust the TDR to make the trip will be driving the pickup which I have already been informed can not p…

  • I am looking at making some last minute arrangements to attend Carlisle next month. Having never attended have some questions for those attending. As TDR is not ready for the road and don’t have a covered car trailer so will be driving truck. What kind of ticket do I buy, general event or non judged showfield? Secondly, assume that cruises…[Read more]

  • TomWiring in the interrupt for the fog lamps with a relay is straightforward. Run a wire from the dimmer switch connected to the high beam circuit to tab 85 on a auto relay. Run another wire from tab 86 to ground. Cut the + lead to the fog lamps and connect one of the cut wires to tab 30 and the other to tab 87a on the relay. When the dimmer…[Read more]

  • While the monochromatic wiring can be daunting for mechanics that are accustomed to colour coded wiring assuming the numbered tags are still intact and the wiring harness was installed as per the schematic doing any electrical diagnosis should be no more difficult than doing so with colour coded wiring. Suspect some mechanics may use monochromatic…[Read more]

  • GreymindThe FF schematic I have is the same as the one posted in the reference section of the site. The modified one that I created when I rewired my FF using a marine grade ATC fuse block and some auto grade relays was sent to Paul for posting to the site. If you want a copy immediately provide your email. Can also provide pics of fuse block etc…[Read more]

  • JamesSend me your email via a PM and I will send you the FF schematic as well as one I created using additional fuses and relays to take the load off the switches

  • JamesI am up the road from you in Port Perry. I have a 82 FiberFab built on a 68 Type 1 frame with a 72 1600 engine. Have been working all winter on doing some restoration work so it will be available for the meet on Reach and the two shows in town this summer   Send me a PM if you want to meet to compare TDRs. Pics of car are posted in me…[Read more]

Perfect just the kind of info I was looking for.
Two questions, any stress cracks in the engine cover due to the weight of the wheel or have the two right angle strips of metal distributed the weight enough to minimize the flexing?
Do the cover supports lock in place to keep them extended?  Was looking at using gas struts like  I have su…

I never understood why forums wanted birth dates to register. Unless there is some justification I never provide my real birth date due to concerns with identity theft. Having spent 25 years in IT the last in IT Security I have seen first hand the impact of providing birth dates and SIN # hence if that info is ever requested I make sure the…[Read more]

Another finishing product you may want to consider is Cetol. It is one of the few products available in Canada that is certified for external use and is oil based. I used it on skirt of hot tub for years   My experience with spar varnish is that if surface is comprised and water gets into space between wood and varnish the varnish will turn wh…[Read more]

My FF TDR mahogany dashboard was 5/8″ but I know it had been put through a thickness planer by PO as there was evidence of knife glazing that had not been sanded out. The black walnut that I used to replace it was planed to 7/8″ and I had to cut a rabbet to fit the speedo and tach

Have never shipped anything from Canada to US but choices I have used from US are via mail or courier. Don’t know if any cross border duty charges would be applicable. As for cost make an offer or we could swap goods for stuff I need from MG Magic

I have a 3.25 ” VDO speedometer from a FF TDR that I am restoring. I installed a Speed Hut GPS speedometer so no longer require the VDO gauge. The TDR is built on a 68 VW frame so there is a cable as well. Let me know if you are interested or want to see pics. It was working when the car was put away for the winter last fall

  • In my research saw reference to Bosch relay but did not realize that it had the safety feature that you have explained. I thought it was just a brand that they were referring to. I used $10 relays and a bit more wire to accomplish the same safety configuration. Never the less the important take away is that when changing from mechanical to…[Read more]

  • Two cautionary notes I picked up from research when I installed an electric fuel pump. 1) install regulator to adjust fuel pressure to 2.5 for a carb (PICT 34) 2) use a two relay electrical setup with a NO and NC is series circuit. The NO contact is controlled by the ignition switch and the NC by the low pressure oil sensor. Logic for electrics…[Read more]

  • I installed the Empi kit last weekend using the socket and 2×4 method to install the bearings. Only problem encountered was with the casting nub on face of caliber. It is proud of the face of the disk and consequently would not allow the wheel to rotate. Had to install a 1/4″ wheel spacer and use longer wheel lugs to clear the the nub. CIP1 tech…[Read more]

  • Toller replied to the topic Volt Gauge in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 8 years, 7 months ago

I replaced the amp meter with a VDO volt meter in my dash rebuild. I wired it into a ignition switched fuse block terminal Realize that electrical problems with gauges is small but as I had unused fuse terminalson the block decided to wire it accordingly. Will have to put the VOM in series with the gauge to determine the amp rating for the fuse

  • Rick so now you are telling me I have a third option. I think option 2 with a bag of rocks will be the most practical. Or I go back to option 0 which would be to reinstall the drum brakes and just consider the conversion kit a sunk cost until I want to go for new wheels, tires, narrow beam and associated front suspension hardware. My wife keeps…[Read more]
