Yeah it sounds beyond complicated and expensive I ended up buying a 30$ universal column lever with a flasher relay now I have to figure out what all I can get rid of co I have like 3 flasher relays lol

also.  Someone was nice enough to use a column from a 73 bug so it has the wipers on there also and that assembly is what holds the shaft centered.  Sighs

soooo since they welded the bolt up bracket to the tube already I’m going to add about 2” of tube to slip over the end of what I have so I can use the cap that holds shaft centered and gives me a place to mount the turn lever.

Annnnd apparently I have to get a switch to go thru dash to wire up my wipers if I even bother since I’m in az lol

and I have to get an ignition switch to go thru dash coz all that stuff is in with the later lever setup

figure I’ll go head and get my new steering wheel since it’s off anyhow right lol

Man I read this awhile back and thought I’ve never seen one of these in all the yrs of running bugs n rails

Then I goto put plug wires on my mgtd kit and poof I broke one.

It appears like the new wires are fatter and won’t go back in the old clips.

How much would u charge me for a set of the ones u made? I think there’s 4 of them

I found an access panel on the right side of the tunnel right where they welded the bushing plate so I could’ve removed the rod right there instead of making an access hole underneath I had to weld back up 🤦‍♂️

Its all together and will outlive me least I’m hoping lol

Im going to see what I can figure out like u said.

It sounds like the contact in the big Lucas box initiates but it don’t click out ? and light in back don’t change.  I have park lights on thinking I can see it get brighter when I turn column lever right or left but I only get the clicking sound in the box when I move lever up n down to right turn. Left is like totally dead without sounds.

I was trying to find out what that other relay is but the relay number just comes up as radio shack relay or vw relay can’t get particulars ya know?

there was a indicator relay in diagram for that 33116 box but it just shows to initiate a light indicator in dash this thing has like 8 wires on it one not hooked up but as I said it’s got me stumped

The kit is about 30$ to include al the pump and diaphragms etc.   goto eBay n get a new one for 60$ toss it when it needs rebuilt in 5 yrs

In case anyone wants them I just took off the metal wire wheel 2 pc 15” wheel covers

have set of 5 various conditions but all usable and able to be rechromed I believe

can’t get pics to work here so pm me and I can text ya pics

Therea a green wire that goes to it not hooked up so not sure if PO was tryin to get signals working and gave up or what 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a set of the two piece metal wire wheel covers original various levels of good condition.  I was going to have em rechrome but can’t find a shop located in 85361 Arizona 100$ plus ship

Well I took it off pulled cover and sanded the contacts to clean them up.  Not sure if they’re bad or what.  One of the long reeds is bent like it was overheated and linked or bent it a little.  Tried to make all of them straight and clean

sure is a huge pita to install this thing to see if it works 😂

Yeah I managed to find a video showing tie fishing like or something to the shaft after out of coupler then pull it out.   So when you pull it back in it goes thru bushing.   Wow wish I’d found that a day earlier 😂

im goin to put a loop in shifter hole to lift rod and also took my long reach needle nose and made them fit around the shaft to grab better

fighting Arizona summer so when it’s 90 by 9am I have to wait til 3am to start work lol

Its gotta be better before I couldn’t go from 1st to 2nd without finesse so it wouldn’t grind tryin to go in reverse
