Slowly coming back from the ashes...May 31, 2015 at 5:16 pm #262833Time to start planning for our gathering at the 6th annual Auto & Air Classic at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach on the 17th of October. We TDers usually stay downtown on Fri & Sat at the Oceanfront Inn at 2901 Atlantic Ave (757 422 0445).
Information on show registration etc will be forwarded as it becomes avail. Most of us arrive at the Inn in the afternoon of the day before (Friday, the 16th). One day show starts at 1100 on the 17th and runs til about 4pm. We have been parking together at the show in “Rock Star Parking”.
Hope to see you there. We always have a good time.
We usually get together for meals.
(show proceeds go to SPCA and Southeastern Va Foodbank.)

Lakeland, Florida, where we drive Topless every dayJune 2, 2015 at 3:08 am #262837Dave, you could spend Thursday night and Sunday night at my place in New Bern,NC. We are about 3 hrs south of Va Bch. It would break the trip up a bit and you could get a couple of good meals. (Julie was and is a helluva good cook.) Caravan up with Jack and I.

"Drive Happy"August 3, 2015 at 10:18 am #262839From one of the event organizers this am:
Thank you for your past support of our charity car show. Your attendance helped make each year better than the last. Air & Auto Classic 5 in 2014 raised a record $8500 for charity. We’re shooting for $10,000 this year, so we welcome you and your family and friends to come out and help us meet that goal! If you’re a business owner and/or would like to be a show sponsor, we welcome that as well; just reply to this email.
Air & Auto Classic 6 will return to the Military Aviation Museum on 17 October (31 October rain date). The Virginia Beach SPCA and the Foodbank of Southeastern VA and the Eastern Shore will again benefit from the proceeds.
The show will feature live music, food by local Eat the Streets 757 network member food trucks, beer and wine will along with raffles and prizes.
The museum is now offering vintage plane rides and there will be a few vendors on hand peddling their wares.
Show and registration info is on our website: http://www.fsrpca.org. Just scroll down and click on the Air & Auto Classic logo. You can register online, download and print a hard copy registration form to mail, RSVP by email or just show up at the gate.
If you’re proud of it, bring it! We hope to see you there!
August 3, 2015 at 11:28 am #262840Hey all,
I’m registered for Rock Star Parking. Now all I need is a towbar. Does anyone have any suggestions?Vicenç - (bee sense)

August 3, 2015 at 2:55 pm #262841Craigslist. Call any ad offering air cooled VW parts and ask if they know anyone with a spare tow bar they’d part with . $60 should get it.
August 3, 2015 at 4:23 pm #262842New ones are commonly $100.
August 3, 2015 at 7:32 pm #262843Vicenc, I’ll be driving down. Could meet you at the same spot we met before then head south and pick up the others on the way. Paul, same thing. Ed, Gabe, Shu, I’ve got all your rendezvous points saved.

"Drive Happy"August 4, 2015 at 12:03 am #262845Bill, I think that might be doable. Do you have any idea of the route you want to take? I’m thinking of heading down the DelMarVa.

August 4, 2015 at 7:17 am #262846Ed’s in Baltimore. Shu is outside Fredericksburg. Then 17 along the James River to 64 into VA Beach. Came back through DelMarVa in 2013 with Paul. Nice trip but a lot of lights.

"Drive Happy"August 17, 2015 at 6:39 pm #262849Can I get a head count of those planning to attend?
It’s getting to be that time when I start talking to George, of the PCA, about preferred parking at the grassy edge of the tarmac. Last year he was planning a “SPECIAL” trophy for Tdr’s ….but then we all bailed in a big “no show” so I’m not sure how much credibility I still have.So far, I have:
Royal
Jack
Ed
Bill
Vincenc
As for sure, “come hell or high water” attendees!Royal2015-08-17 18:54:59August 17, 2015 at 10:51 pm #262850I’m in. Will be towing her in so we don’t have a repeat of Carlisle. (If the Fates don’t urinate on my Wheaties in some other sort of way.)

August 20, 2015 at 9:15 am #262851My plan is to attend this year. I hope to bring along a forum member ( Dbanta ) Dean that has completed his TDr in a very timely manner but is still working out bugs but should be ready. In addition another friend ( Terry ) in an MGB also wants to come along so hopefully he can make it as well.
My only hitch is a possible graduation ( one of my son’s – Army ) that may or may not be at the same time that could affect my trip. Looking forward to the run and company again. It was a good time. -
