That old thread is:https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/door-latches-2/If you find any old threads via google the way Ed did, just a “2” after the first “/forum…”The lock mechanism in this thread will prevent someone from accidentally hitting the latch. But if your MG style latch does not click into the hole, it will not help.

That’s a great idea and good insurance. I’ve often wondered about hitting a bump and having my door fly wide open.Where did you attach each end, the hook and the eye?

If you need one, I have one to sell.
Bought it a couple years back on ebay. Wrong size (I was converting to bigger instruments) but they wouldn’t take it back. This one’s about 3 3/8 inches. Let me know if you’re interested.

Roy you might be right regarding the Tach. dying. I am sure it was old when I got the car probably from the 70’s. I am still learning and wanted to check and make sure I was covering the bases in checking it out.
I planned on pulling the dash this summer to replace all the instruments, and refinish it, along with going through all the ecl… -

I hear you about continuity. That’s good. Try your dwell tach at the dashboard using the tach ground and the wire to the coil. Probably won’t work either. Sorry to say, but I suspect that, after checking the wiring (as you have) the tach may have called it quits (pretty rare) but it happens.

Nice, Roy. Some of us talked about this potential issue a year or two back. There was an aftermarket safety latch some guy made that was supposed to catch the door handle on the inside. I like your solution better. On a possibly related note, I found that, on my car, the door latches were installed wrong: the “catch” was only on the secondary…[Read more]

On my MGTF I once had a suicide door fly open and catch the wind in a hard right turn. These old MG bodies had some flex to them and this was a danger. Don’t forget your seat belt.
It seems that the VW based kits are a lot more rigid but still, it can happen. So, to give myself some peace of mind, I installed some high quality screen door… -

Greg,er Please don’t think that I am nit picking but I am quite sure that what you mean is that your “clutch is slipping”. This isn’t necessarily so difficult to fix. With a little luck, it might just be that your clutch needs adjusting (it hasn’t enough slack when your foot is not on the pedal). This is not so difficult and any of your VW re…[Read more]

Hit it in 4th while going fairly slow–45 mph or so. If you rev without accelerating then your clutch is slipping
Might need a new one, or it could be out of adjustment.Look here for tests and things to check.

You can get an in-line fuel filter for a Chrysler product which has three lines. One in, one out, and one for vent.

Nah. That’s not it either. I just tested it by posting, then deleting. So for now, I’m no longer sure about “posts”Re: the centerpiece…. Roy, reach under your chair. If you find a piece of masking tape that says “winner”, you get the centerpiece!

OK, so I THOUGHT I knew the answerMy only guess…occasionally posts will get deleted, like in the registry, once a new member is recorded, we delete the extraneous posts..So maybe we get the points as we post. And they stay, even if a post is deleted?

I almost hate to ask, but….if you click on a members name and then on “members profile” you are given a page that shows: PMOSSBERG “Points 2100” and on the next line “Posts 2057”. If points are posts, then what are posts? …..or is this one of those “things that will be revealed………..”???
I remember the festivities celebrating Paul’s… -
