Wow. $1500! Glad you could get it done. But, man, if the hood on these things is worth $1500 then the whole kit ought to be about $10,000.(Which it was, of course, 30 years ago) (Not adjusted for inflation).Amazing then that more or less complete old kits are floating around on the Bay & Craigslist for a few hunnert. Total business opportunity!…[Read more]

Turns out that 135# is an expected compression reading. Found a major vacuum leak where 1/4 of the carb to intake manifold gasket was missing. I hope to gain more control of engine idle speed (it wanted to idle high) and smoothness when I get it running. So far, it has taken me much longer to clean, straighten, align and install all the tin w…[Read more]

Run your lights through a relay instead of just through the fuse box. The lights will brighten right up.

Man I’m so envious of you guys living in the warm areas. 34* and windy here in Ohio. No rides this week end
, guess I shouldn’t complain, so far it’s really been a mild winter. My head lights work great the few times I’ve been out after dark. I’m not sure if they are anything special,
I think just whatever CMC used when it was built.

I don’t know. I have a pair of H6024 lamps on mine and I feel
the illumination is just fine. Are yours aligned properly?Check them on the garage door. See if the heigth and beamspread matches your other cars. -

Marc, You are right of course. I wasn’t very descriptive in calling it an offset bracket. But… isn’t the cooler itself the same? ie., the same old 1500 cooler with a new mounting bracket that has internal passages instead of mounting directly to the top of the case? The result being that the cooler is moved a few inches forward, out of the d…[Read more]

The doghouse shroud should also have the newer offset oil cooler with it to work that much more effectively. It’s not only the shroud that should be replaced, it’s the newer version of the oil cooler also.mrlmd2012-02-24 20:17:01

I burn 87 octane without any ill effects. It’s important to realize that
the “high performance” you get with higher octane is by definition
related only to the fuel’s ability to resist detonation under high
compression. In a ’68 Hemi with 11-to-1 static compression ratio, I’d
burn 93 with some “octane 104” or lead additive. In a ’68 1500 sp…[Read more] -
