In another post, Travis asked how I routed the hood sides. I drilled a 5/16 hole at the top and bottom of each vent in the depressed area. I used a guide at the top (and bottom) to align the holes. I clamped a guide for the routed by placing the router in a hole and moving the guide to the edge of the router. Then just moved router from top…[Read more]

Decided to fix a long standing issue this past weekend – too much play in steering. Removed steering column and gave it to a local race shop to replace the loose universal joint. Then while I was working in the area, decided to remove hood side panel and open up the fake vents. So I have routed them out. It came out pretty good. I’ll post…[Read more]

You should look to find the manual (or at least an on-line resource) for your Speedo. Mine (Classis Instruments Brand) is electronic – (a sensor reads revolutions in the drive train). There are a series of little switches on the back of the speedo which allow you to increase or decrease speed readings. I re-adjusted once, which made it be…[Read more]

Hey Ricrx7,
My ’52 BCW TD is a factory build and has the louvres open. They were routed – probably during assembly. I have not had heat issues.
I have an original TD Hood top and placed it on top of the BCW hood in comparison. The BCW hood is about 2 inches longer – so original sides and tops won’t work unless you move the grill back a bi…[Read more]

I’m using a Budge Size 2 from Walmart. Good for in garage or short term outside. Full bumper coverage and nice elastic fit. I’m thinking it was around 30 Bucks…

I use a cover I got years ago that was a GM accessory. It was for a Chevy Cavalier. It fits nice and tight with stretch fit over front and rear bumpers.

In response to ochwatt request trying to locate a good cover for his MP Lafer. I’m using a cover from Moss Motors, that was made for an original TD. It is a fine cover that fits great, and is on their web site. Worth trying.

Gregg,
I tok another route re: the spare on the Fiber Fab car I sold a few years ago: I found a spare that would fit under the hood —
I got the tire from ONLINETIRES.COM and mounted it on a standard VW 4-hole rim. Here’s the info:

Fabbing a ring to go around the entire opening in the engine cover would help distribute the weight and minimize vibration that will cause stress cracks. Unfortunately I can’t provide pics of what I did as I put the car into storage last weekend. As PO installed an after market oil cooler in same place as original cooler I think that I am s…[Read more] - Load More
