Larry, I agree the TF’s never interest me either either. . Kinda like going from a ’57 Chevy to a ’58. I like them both but given the choice, I’ll take the “57. I have to wonder what kinda mileage that V-8 gets. Montie

Wow,This would be a rocket ror sure!!! I don’t remember this company.Wonder if they built it with the V=8 or if the conversion was done by an individual? The headers under the fenders are a dead give away that it ain’t your normal MG.I know that the TF is rarer than the TD ,but I just cannot get used to the headlights molded into the fenders. SS 100s didn’t have tubes. Straight six would’ve required them all to be on one side. The Jag is also a two seater. Looks a lot like an elongated TD with (are they?) even bigger headlights. Here’s a Gazelle, with the requisite tubes.

Look in Washington Will’s photo gallery ,at the very bottom you can see his Gazelle in the background behind his TD.
In the VW based section under the post about side mounted spares is a pict of a SS100 Jag.
These pictures should help with the identification of the car in question. -

Three tubes in each side going through he fenders. Sounds like a Gazelle or Jaguar SS-100. And yep…the fronts are longer. I actually have a Gazelle assembly manual I found on line when searching for my TD.
I usually get something like…”Oh. You’re building one of those cute ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ cars” to which I just smile and say “uh huh!”

Notes on his car it is very light cream with brown fenders, seats four, to me it looks longer in the front, and has three flex tubes on each side from the motor compartment down thru the front fenders. Yes I am aware that I have poor spelling skills but I also couldn’t help repeating his abuse of the queens english.

Wolfsburg West is the best supplier for “thick” VW floor pan halves. Check out http://www.thesamba.com for anything air-cooled VW related.
Depending on what state you are in, being titled as the “donor” car will not fly. Where are you located?

Ed,
I will be going up on Thursday – we leave around lunch time from N-VA, but that may change a bit if we decide to tag along w/ others coming up from the south – otherwise Greg and I will just head up by ourselves. Thursday is a fun day as well – think about it. -

I organized and sponsored the East Coast Karmann Ghia Treffen for four years. It was the only VW Karmann Ghia show east of the Mississippi. And although it was a blast having all the Ghias in one location, it’s a ton of work. Not doing one anymore. The logistics and cost were too much. But I did have a Ghia make it to Stone Mountain Park in Atl…[Read more]

Haven’t plotted our route yet, Dale. Thinking I’ll be going up on Friday a.m. this time. Hotel Res is for Friday and Saturday. This is all assuming I’ve not ruined my car by then, of course.

I was thinking of trying for a TD-only dinner and/or Scotch tasting this summer at Stoney’s Pub, in Wilmington, DE.http://www.stoneyspub.com/That's about a two hour run for me, was hoping we could get a Jersey boy or two involved, and maybe even some of our NoVA friends.Stoney would get a kick out of it, for sure. We’ve never really tried to organize our own event. Take a look at the registry page and map and see how spread out we are!
There are two events that we encourage all to attend, depending on whether they are east or west of the mighty Miss.
The annual Import/Kit/Replicar show in Carlisle Pennsylvania in May. And the annual Knotts Berry Farm Kit…[Read more] -

Welcome Duk – I have a lot of relatives out you way in Enid and close by – spent some fun times as a kid out there in the country.
Well – I say the guy on the other side of Stillwater owes you the title – the one he has goes w/ the tunnel that you have w/ your car. He needs the title from the tunnel that his body now rests on… imho

Yes it’s titled as a 70 VW, and at least at one time it sitting on a floor pan. FYI; the VW people tha I have had contact with around here commonly refer to the complete rolling undercarrage is refered to as the floor pan, the floor boards then being the parts on either side of the tunnel. The only vin# I have to work with is the one stamped on t…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum.
Allen is correct…changing floor pans would not change the VIN.
