Ed, I just rebuilt and installed a 69 ghia beam on my car. I replaced everything, yes everything with new stock parts. I used rubber not ureathane as I wanted the softest and quietest ride. I also removed all but the main four leaves in the upper and lower beam. I did not put an adjuster on either beam and was hoping for the best. I used the oil…[Read more]

Thanks, Richard.I got the sway bar off. Turns out the bushing holders for those are two-piece construction.
Problem now is, bushings or bearings? People say those urethane buggers squeak. The Speedster guys have an elaborate fix for that involving double-tapping the bushings for zirks; I’d rather just go with the OE stuff if possible. But is it…[Read more]

Not sure what your asking but if you remove the whole thing invest in a urethane bushing kit, check your spindles, front bearings. My good friend Glauten Klause says you can struggle to get this all back in and attach pieces as you go. But he prefers to rebuild the entire front end whilst he has it out. then invite a friend over for a green…[Read more]

Carbs on manifolds are considerably wider that cutout and it even tapers in towards the top. -

Man after my own heart. Very hard to get just the right “patina” on stuff as you change it.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been scouring the mentioned sites for quite a while and the one I’m looking for never seems to pop up. So I figured I’d give the forum a shot, you never know who may have swaped stuff out to match, unlike my dash with the mismatched stuff.
The tach in my dash came with the car. I’m trying to keep the build cost down so l…[Read more] -

Searching the samba classifieds there seem to be an assortment of gauges. I almost remember a couple CI instruments. Samba is good for an evening visit. Take your time sit back and enjoy.

egauges has those new. In my case though, I’m going with the VDO voltmeter in place of my non-working Amps (“Dynamo”) gauge from Classic Instruments. Easier hookup & arguably better functionality–though admittedly not as classic.BTW, Craigo, what are you running that needs a 10k tach?!

Ed
Thanks for the heads up on the Chicane Videos. Just makes you wish you’d been there. What’s really depressing was knowing that I lived about 15 miles from Beverly Airport (Ma) in the late fifties, and lived in the Los Angeles are in the mid 60s. Too busy thinking about going to the drag strip. hmm… Thanks again. Neil Flaherty -

Wobby,
If you are referring to the intake manifolds tha fit between the carbs and the cylinder head, there are two types. A long maniold (about 8 Inches tall) ans a short manifold (about 5 inches tall). The longer ones ange up and outboard from the cylinder head. The shorter one like I have start outboard and then curve upwards. I’ll post a pic o…[Read more] -

Ahh, projects! I’m still as new to this as you are, Rich, and I wonder what you mean by “dual port posts.”You’re talking about the mounts for the carbs? The carbs fit on them but the whole engine is then too wide to fit under your engine cover?Maybe you could post a photo of what you’re looking at. Some of the real mechanics here can school us both.
