I have that type hat too, same color from Walmart, think it was 4.99. Since I lowered the seat it stays on without a chin strap, but cool idea with the sideburns or beard. Someone’s goning to run with that idea, and make $$$.

Yeah. In all the pics of these replicas, the guys standing around them all had sideburns!

Jas, I think maybe you should skip it. The physics don’t make a lot of sense. This, at least, according to physicists.

Nothing like the bugs in your teeth and the wind blowing where your hair used to be
Good idea to invent a chin strap with sideburns -
James Cochran replied to the topic Whats that again? in the forum VW Based Kits 15 years, 1 month ago
Larry, do a fur covered strap for those cooler days and you can do an Abe Lincoln look, or half and half for an Elvis sideburn look.

If I had not checked with him sometime back and identified the one wearing the goggles as his security guard, I would jump to the conclusion that Ringo has the most hair of all our forum members.
I am working on developing a skin tone chin strap to solve the cap in the wind problem. -

Looks Lafer’ish to me.
I like the cap, but I really like Ringo’s goggles to go with the cap. Ringo, you old dog you.
I had thought of getting one of those caps to keep my thinning hair from thinning any more, but too late. In the south we just wear a baseball cap….backwards. Not so Brit, but works…..wee doggies!
Is this what happens when a…[Read more] -

I got one of those hats–tartan style. I’ll need a chin strap to wear it in Bridget tho…. Gonna have to get an old RAF helmet and goggles, I think.
So, anyway, Lafer it is, rebadged, ’cause nobody else did dooors like that. Wobby sent me a couple kit car books last week. I’ll see if I can find an entry for that thing. -

Sure looks like a Lafer to me too.
I am headed to a local guy’s house tonight afterwork to install a Pertronix Ignitor in his Lafer.
Hey Larry, you have to wear the cap backwards when moving! -

Ed, I’ve got one of those caps. It will not stay on with the windows out ,much less with the top down but it does look cool and very British.
The car looks a lot like a MP Lafer but with a head light bar and different lights on the fenders. The door hinges at the front and removeable solid windows are Lafer simularities. I have never heard of…[Read more] -

Well I went and did it!I just ordered the MegaSquirt II computer.
I’ve been studying the tuning software and I think I’m beginning to understand it.
The “Turner Studio” software has an “auto tune” system which, once I get in the ballpark, will fine tune the car as I drive. I’ll just have to keep my laptop plugged in while using the ‘auto tune’.The…[Read more]

I’m 6’3, 235# and my Classic Roadster Duchess with the 2.3 and 4 speed fits me just fine. The only problem I have is with the room for my 14EEEE feet fitting the pedals. I have put an extension on the gas pedal and now it works pretty well. When stopping I end up with pressing down on my left foot with my right foot sometimes, but it’s no bi…[Read more]

My Ford 2.3 has the shifter back so far that I hit the seat back when shifting. Uncomfortable at first, but I have gotten used to it. Like Montie, I changed my seat bases and back for more room. There is an illustration and photos in my photos. I am 6 foot. I like having the seat base lower and tilted. I can also now see thru the windshield glass…[Read more]

Jdd chevette had two sticks one has about a 30 degree bend and one is straight they interchange I like the 30 bend it clears my radio and ashtray cutting the seat base is a good thing you can cut the sides to an angle it is only 3 sided keeping the front part factory height and cutting the sides to 3.5 inches at the back reinforcing the fr…[Read more]

Audrey is a Ford kit too from CMC.. At 6’1″ 200# I had problems with the leg room too. I built new seat boxes lowering them in the back to about 3″ and the front about 5″.. making them angle back gave me about another 2 inches. This put my sight in the center of the windshield too, with the stock seat boxes I was looking over the top most of the…[Read more]

The rear bumper on my BCW VW has a hole in the middle. There’s a bolt through it into a bracket.
Looks like the originals have a center hole too.
