I am somewhat disappointed, I was always led to believe “He who dies with the most badges wins” I’ve been actively collecting and actually starting to acuire quite a few. I was thinking of possibly rotating them on my bar(on the car) right now thier displayed behind my bar(in my house) Oh I’m so confused

HI Mike and welcome to the forum. I have owned a London Roadster VW based TD replica since 1994 and have never had any problems with overheating. My car has a chrome fan cover and the thermostat controlled fan intake is not used. To my knowledge all London Roadsters were factory built and most have the same engine set up.Check my photo gallery t…[Read more]

Ed, Thanks for the BCW info. It is interesting how much one can find out about another in the hi tech age. I checked out the link and they produce some really nice hardtops. Shame they don’t make one to fit our TDs although the side curtains actually bug me more than the soft top.Good info and let us know if you get any response.

Here’s a man who can have any car he wants and has some really expensive ones and yet he gets a special kind of enjoyment from the MG replica. He has found out what we already knew. Aren’t we blessed to have found out before we went broke trying to get the other stuff!

Hi Ed, I’ve been watching this one too and am surprised that it has got to this amount. It looks really good but it must be some kind of nice to bring this much. It’s less than 100 miles from me and I had thought about going to see it but just cannot get away from home now. There are several comparable cars on ebay for about half of what this one…[Read more]

No I actually broke the one in the pictures so I am running without one for now. My dad seems to think I can just chrome a plastic one. I still want a metal one if possible though. In my experience my dad is always right, whether I agree or not. I guess the plastic one is lighter too so that’s a plus.

What do you have on your engine now? It looks good in the pics, but I can see why you want chrome since you have chrome on the engine. Looks great. Is the only reason to change is for a chrome cover?

The seller got back to me. Unfortunately, it is plastic. I will keep looking, but in the meantime if anyone sees one please let me know. Thanks!

What a great story. I hope someday to do the same with my two boys. One just left for some vacation time down in fort benning georgia, so it will certainly be a while the other is still in high school. Great story.

Boy this is a bigger project than I would attempt. Let me know how it goes. Your intention is to widen the whole placement…. Seems scary to me

Thanks James! I sent him a message asking if it was metal or not. If it is I will buy it and maybe look into getting it chromed. Geoff

Geoff,
This one appears to be metal judging by the mounting tabs where the paint is worn off by the bolts. It’s used, 15 bucks + 10
ebay number 350280060084
Looks exactly like mine.
James
