Most stock VW tanks were right at 10.5 gal. This is trusting my memory, so someone may have a more accurate answer.
There are several good books on VWs that are well worth the purchase. John Muir’s “How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive ” , and the Bentley publishers Volkswagen Service Manuals. both are available on Amazon. I’d get the Mui…[Read more] -

If you want to get all the advantages of electronic ignition with the pertronix you can add a stock Duraspark module, or an MSD, or both to get the max spark obtainable. Takes just a little wiring under the hood. Well worth the effort since the pertronix unit by itself doesn’t increase the spark that much but does do away with point p…[Read more] -

Rob,
My 1974 V6 has electronic ignition, although according to the manuals, it was not available until 1975. Mine is a KEM unit. Not sure if it is OEM or not. Supposedly, the big advantage (other than no more burned out points) was a hotter spark that improved performance using today’s (crappy) low octane gas. No problems with mine so far.

Don’t look as if these will fit. Did email him and ask if he has any that will fit.
THANKS

When I say easy as pie, I mean that it took two of us three weeks to properly wire the car. Soldered joints, shrink wrap, try, confirm operation, then move on. Every wire was labeled, such as left front turn signal, every 6 to 8 inches. My buddy and I were meticulous about how we did the rewire, and that eliminated all those ugly bugs that usually…[Read more]

Been to every auto parts store in town. No one can find them. Started looking for dress up covers first, then decided to find a pair and send them off to get chromed. Still no luck. Could send these off to get chromed but am afraid they would get lost in the mail then I don’t know what I would do then. Besides, don’t want the car laid up for that…[Read more]

Hey Geoff,
Wow! Sounds like you’ve been busy! I have done very little on mine since I put it on the road in early June. Tough to work on it when it’s going 70 miles an hour3000 miles so far this summer.
Thanks,

Hey Sarge,
Looks like you and I are the only “V-6ers” in the club! I had looked for some dress up covers a while back, but didn’t come up with anything. If I do find a source, be glad to pass it along.
By the way, I LOVE that little engine. Plenty of power, smooth, cool running. Also seems that the little extra weight up front eliminates the high…[Read more] -

Dan,
If you go to the Photo Gallery, look up Pink MG, you can see the seats and door panels I had re-done in leather. My seats were completley rotted, wood bases and all. I used marine grade plywood that I sealed with urethane (4 coats) and used stainless hardware to build new seat bases and a seat back.
Then I bought three leather hides from…[Read more] -

Hi. Actually, it’s a reasonable question.
If you compare a buffed out gel coat finish to a painted finish, I think the painted finish will always look better. So it’s reasonable to think touch up paint will not blend well with a gel coat finish.
And there are alternatives. With my Duchess (bought kit in 1982) I received a gel coat repair kit. On…[Read more] -

Glad to hear it was an easy fix. I checked my problem this weekend and found it was hitting the bump stops, not maxxing out the shocks. The shocks are fine, fairly new, and they are pretty much in the mid range with car at rest.
So I went old school and got coil spring boosters, (twist in aluminum “plugs”) from Mr. Gasket. In my younge…[Read more] -
