  • Try antlantaimported.com for parts.  They carry all parts for original MGTDs.  Some parts will fit.

  • Hi Jeff, sorry that I can’t be of much help with the gas tank question, but on one of my cars, the tank has a cut down neck and cap and there is lots of room left above it.  This tank is mounted longwise fore and aft.  On the other car, the tank is crosswise and the fit is tight because the neck was not cut and it touches the side of the c…[Read more]

Hey Wendy, my turn signal lens did the same thing before I got my car..could be wrong plastic or wrong bulb.  I wonder if the glass one had any problems or were the originals plastic that were 6 volt or something?  Anyway, if you find a source other than Moss, let us all know….happy motoring and cheers

  • Thanks Paul,
Pete at Classic Roadster said he did have a walnut and oak dash for the 1980 Duchess.  He is looking to see if he has any unfinished ones.  Actually, the person restoring my car for me said he’d rather find someone to do as you are saying so we can put bigger guages in and put in different places.  How did you find a wood working pe…[Read more]

I will take some of the back and post it…coming soon. Thank you!!!

  • Do you still have the old dash? Classic Roadsters TDs were not exactly like others. Your best bet may be to have a wood dash cut to fit. The general shape is easy to trace from the fiberglass cowl. The mating edge on the reverse side needs to be routed out to fit the lip of the fiberglass cowl.
You might try contacting Class Roadsters directly.…[Read more]

  • After a few years of looking around I have found they are the only place to get anything bodywise. There are hundreds of places to get the VW parts. He had some front bumper seconds awhile back,I got a couple of them,if you need a top you ought to get it now,he is not sure how long he is going to be making them.I found boat canvas shops talk a good…[Read more]

  • Bill,
Thanks for the MG Magic info. I’m new to this site and needed to locate a good parts supplier.
To Frankie D and all others who have posted… Thanks for this great site and info. This place is like an MGTD oasis. You’ve sure helped me out big time!
OH yeah… I can take a hint also… I’ll get that club badge too.

  • One word… Wow!
Look at the reflections in that paint job.
    Beautiful Car.

  • Thanks, Keith and Schu,
    Thanks for the response, buds.
The kit is new and unbuilt, and I’m just starting to assemble the Fiberfab parts after completely prepping all the VW components.
Per the manual, I’ve already cut and welded the shortened neck on the tank, so that isn’t an issue. The problem is that the tank liner will not seat to the body…[Read more]

  • I have three of these cars, and in one of them The gas tank just would not fit the liner. It must have been pulled from the mold too soon or something I monkeyed with it for weeks off and on,I just gave up and mounted the tank without the liner. The original VW did not have a liner, the only drawback I can see is that if the tank was to leak it might…[Read more]

  • Jeff,
I had the Red MG TD next to you at Carlisle – I will check mine for the tank question, but I am almost sure the tank on my rig had the neck cut down and welded back on by the original builder to provide the needed clearance on the hood lid. I will take a look and see how the bottom section was done and get back to you.
The fuse box in my car…[Read more]

  • Thanks Keitholdcar for the additional information. I now have the car at my house but I don’t have insurance on it yet so I am not driving it yet. I trailered it over. I have driven it only about 6 blocks.
I was told a local repair shop can make the conversion and I will take it to them as soon as I have insurance on the car. If they can’t make…[Read more]

  • hay redhill i too have a london roadster 1986 with  the 1600 engine. was wondering where you got that nice british emblem for the grill? your car looks mint. and other pics email me if you know where that emblem came from thanks robrwburmeister@verizon.net

  • I bought my wife a London Roadster about a year and a half ago and she loves it. Hers is on a VW chassis and engine, with a fully automatic transmission. Great little car – reliable and economical.

  • I am still looking, and I have seen it done on cars.I kind of thought at the time it was part of the kit.I have seen the E-brake moved to the rear of the shifter too.The hardest part about that is dealing with the cables.

  • I took out all of the half leafs.I have been busy this summer with rebuilding a house to sell, and have hardly driven the car.I did drive it to our camp, about 35 miles away and truthfully could not tell the difference. But,that is only because I drive so many different things and just would not remember after the winter.I bet if I drove it this…[Read more]

  • Kieth,  I really do appreciate your response.  I never would have guessed the idea of cutting short sections of the small leafs to accomplish the proper fit into the torsion bar arms and grub screw attachment points.  Did you do that to all 12 of the short leaves in both the upper and lower tubes?  You had said earlier that you had removed lea…[Read more]
