I looked in Moss Motors for the emblems to mount in my cap centers.I just can”t seem to find them.I scouted around the website but did not see them listed anywhere.I know they have them, others have bought them.Maybe I just have to get myself back into British thinking mode,as in if you need a tailight part look in the radio section of the parts book.

It’s definitely not an original TD. The wipers are one give-away. The curve to the top of the rear fenders is kit, not original. There are latches on the “hood”, on an original would have a piano hinge there.
Original TD’s have steel wheels, painted silver. Eastwood carries the paint in spray cans. It’s right her…[Read more] -

Depends on the manufacturer.
On Classic Roadsters tops, there is a sleeve about an inch wide sewn across the full width of the top. They provided (in early years) an aluminum bar, (in later years) a flexible plastic bar that slid into the top sleeve. Once in the sleeve, the roof folded over the top of the frame and the bar was inserted in to the…[Read more] -

Save yourself the headache of trying to wire it up like the manuals tell you. Spend a little bit more up front and get a wiring harness kit from Painless, American Auto Wire, Ron Francis Wire Works, Centech, etc.
A 12 circuit basic Hot Rod kit will do. Call these people and tell them what you are doing. They are all very helpful.
These kits are…[Read more] -

You have to undo the snaps at the rear first. Then insert the leading edge into the groove in the top of the W/S frame.I don”t know anybody strong enough to just stick the leading edge into the groove without undoing the snaps first.Don”t be surprised if you find that the top has just shrunk too much to be used anymore.I have one that the top was…[Read more]

A real TD has the wipers on the top of the windshield, and the reps have the wipers in the cowl. That was the only giveaway for me.

Hey Paul I noticed the “05” number and some stickers on the side of the car are they “stickers” or “magnets” and if magnets maybe it is a real TD ??? But great questions Mike has for you, I was wondering the same…I keep going around with what to do with the wheels and tires thing as well…

Welcome aboard the club, if you notice there is a slot on the top of the windshield, that the end of the canvis should slide right into. If you do not have this, attach a photo here and I am sure we can talk you thru it.
Good luck and keeo coming to the site it has lots of info. -

Hey Paul, It looks like one of the early original style luggage racks that has a nice cushion on top..Moss still sells these as well as one which is bumper height. While I’m here, I’ll ask you if you know what the original TDs wheel colors were? I asked a while back and got a reply about steering wheels..I’m talking about tire wheels.. were th…[Read more]

Keith and Paul,
Once again your guys a troopers thanks for the info…Sounds like it should do it the book way which I also have a copy of..Thanks. -
Keith True replied to the topic Electrical in the forum General Discussion 17 years, 8 months ago
And,I have copies of the FibreFab VW wiring harness although I doubt there is any real difference from it and the Classic Roadster Paul is talking about. One thing to add about any other than the correct harness for your car is that you have to run ground wires for everything. They all rely on the steel body to ground the components.

Paul,
If you want a copy of Classic Roadsters’ schematics, let me know. I have my complete assembly manual.
An alternative somewhere between MGMagic’s “complete” and starting from scratch…search for Dune Buggy wiring harnesses. They will have most of what you need.
Here is one example, http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC-C10-…[Read more] - Load More
