Good to have you here!Hope to see that hard top since I know those have been mentioned before by others yet seldom exist apparently.If you change the gen/alt belt be sure to tighten the pulley nut to a torque of 43 ft-lbs. Tore my pulley off (picture somewhere I think) just after I got my VW MG from trying to tighten back the way I found it– to… -

Welcome to our group Tom. Although I have a VW based TDr, as to what chassis to go with, I’d pick the one that has the better availability off parts. You can go Ford Pinto or Chevy Chevette. Drive around the block and try stopping with only your emergency/parking brake. …will help you sort out the front/rear question. I installed discs on my TD with no proportioning valve. Everything works great.

I found a new mechanic who was able to fix my engine, and now it purrs very nicely. Upon driving home, however, I noticed a new issue … or at least one that I had overlooked up to now.
My original so-called “professional” mechanic (who screwed up everything else) also put on the EMPI front disc brakes. Supposedly it also got a new master c… -

Got the convex fender mirrors from Moss Motors today. Two mirrors each in their own box with some assembly required…Oh me! Hope I don’t end with a little bag of important looking stuff left over. I am old ya know. 😆
