  • Hey Carlisle-bound TDr’s,

I was able to borrow a 12 x 12 canopy — just in case it rains or suns on us…
Now I just have to figure out how to get it into Emma  — hmm — it should fit in the passenger seat well….???
You all can report to Wobby that given a choice between my tea-serving-cup-tray-drive-in-diarama or a 12 x 12 canopy, I opted for…

I remember you were considering getting it.  There is a Triumph powered tin-TD nearby (northern NJ) for $14,900 and another one (with original motor) in Western CT for $14,500.  Both seemed to be well priced.

I finally had an opportunity to compare the BCW-TD to a tin-TD and the lack of even just a few scant inches (maybe 2) made the tin-version s…

  • I think the P-1800-engined TD is kind of the best of both worlds. Authentic steel over ash body and 100 horsepower, but with proper dual-SU carburation.

Of course, I don’t have to maintain it….
    Sweet ride. Love the wheels.

Around here you can tell who doesn’t know how to drive a stick shift. They accelerate and then when they shift from one gear to another, they lose most of the speed they had trying to get into the next gear. If you were watching from the side of the road you’d think they were rowing the vehicle along the street. Pretty sad but…it is fun to watch.

I don’t think they’ve taught driving a car with manual transmission in 40+ years.GeekThe local driver’s ed instructor told me it’s a “lost art”.:lol:I’m not sure I’d want to use my LR to let someone learn to drive a stick…Ermm

I was driving my LR past the high school and heard a girl and her boyfriend arguing whether my car was, in her words, “Cute”, or his words, “Cool”.Thought it was funny; their first disagreement…

Yes, I have the 1952 MGTD with Volvo engine.  I am working on getting it road ready.  Lots of small things – like no brakes.  I am still not completely sure which car I will keep.  Having the original, I am more aware of the improvements that the replica has – dual master cylinder, doors that actually close and stay closed.  But it is cool to h…[Read more]

    Rick,

Did you pick up that re-engined TD?  I notice a cream and brown one in the distance.  Whever did your car originally took the extra steps to incorporate as much original stuff as possible – including the wheel.  Have you tried wrapping it with leather?  That might thicken it up a bit for you, but if you need more room, a smaller wheel (I t…

  • OK, no bites on the previous posting.
Let me try the listing in a different fashion.
Per the chassis tag, this is a ’76 Daytona MiGi on a ’71 VW type 1 chassis. From the documentation that comes with the car, looks like the assembly finished in the early 80’s. I purchased the car as a runner (drove it home from Racine, WI), but it needed “help”.…

Lucky girl!  Was either bus ride or 3 mile walk for me at 14. 😀
Maybe she can get taken other places besides school this summer.
Would also make a good learner car away from any traffic. Although I sure hope you don’t give her the key and let her go in it before she’s 20 years old, these cars being fairly unsafe and not at all like the store-bought kind!
  • Thanks! Think it was the fast idle adjuster screw! But will check the fuel pump as well 🙂

I updated the electrical drawings from a FF and added relays for the headlights, fogs, blower and windshield wiper motor. As there were no hazard/4 way circuit I added it to the drawing. I have sent the drawings to a couple of members. If you can use the drawings let me know and I can send the .pdf fileToller2016-05-14 08:55:02

I do, but I can’t really help you. I didn’t wire it, and mine appears to use the whole ’69 donor harness… At least for now. Will totally rewire it when I upgrade the dash.KentT2016-05-13 18:30:03

Ordered the volt gauge from MG Magic. It won’t exactly match the Classic Reproduction gauges I have now but it’s close. And the wiring is easier.
