Yes, I have the 1952 MGTD with Volvo engine. I am working on getting it road ready. Lots of small things – like no brakes. I am still not completely sure which car I will keep. Having the original, I am more aware of the improvements that the replica has – dual master cylinder, doors that actually close and stay closed. But it is cool to h…[Read more]

Rick,
Did you pick up that re-engined TD? I notice a cream and brown one in the distance. Whever did your car originally took the extra steps to incorporate as much original stuff as possible – including the wheel. Have you tried wrapping it with leather? That might thicken it up a bit for you, but if you need more room, a smaller wheel (I t… -

OK, no bites on the previous posting.Let me try the listing in a different fashion.Per the chassis tag, this is a ’76 Daytona MiGi on a ’71 VW type 1 chassis. From the documentation that comes with the car, looks like the assembly finished in the early 80’s. I purchased the car as a runner (drove it home from Racine, WI), but it needed “help”.… -

Lucky girl! Was either bus ride or 3 mile walk for me at 14. 😀Maybe she can get taken other places besides school this summer.Would also make a good learner car away from any traffic. Although I sure hope you don’t give her the key and let her go in it before she’s 20 years old, these cars being fairly unsafe and not at all like the store-bought kind! -

I updated the electrical drawings from a FF and added relays for the headlights, fogs, blower and windshield wiper motor. As there were no hazard/4 way circuit I added it to the drawing. I have sent the drawings to a couple of members. If you can use the drawings let me know and I can send the .pdf fileToller2016-05-14 08:55:02

The easiest way is to find a hot wire that goes to the left two blinkers and also a wire that goes to the right two. Then, attach one wire to one pole of a spst (simple on/off switch) and the other wire to the other terminal of the switch. Now when you have the new switch off, nothing is changed. When you turn your new (hazard/emergency) swit…[Read more]

I do, but I can’t really help you. I didn’t wire it, and mine appears to use the whole ’69 donor harness… At least for now. Will totally rewire it when I upgrade the dash.KentT2016-05-13 18:30:03

Ordered the volt gauge from MG Magic. It won’t exactly match the Classic Reproduction gauges I have now but it’s close. And the wiring is easier.

The picture I posted is of the gauges in my 1952 MGTD (not a replica). The silver is the original and the black was mounted sometime in the past 35 years. My thought was to get the matching instruments for both and put the black in the MGTDR and the silver in the MGTD. Problem is that all the gauges are mechanical. The MGTDR uses ele…[Read more]

Rick,
I think Silver is more common, but will defer to others.I have an electronic Classic Gauges speedo, Tach in my BCW, which is smaller than the original TD Gauges.Issue I have is that I don’t know where the sender is actually located on the drivetrain and I’ve yet to nail down a switch sequence (those who have “classic instruments” know wh… -

Steering wheel is way to thin. I am thinking of changing it for a thicker smaller diameter wheel with spokes similar to the TD wheel
