rockyx;
depending on the type of use box already insalled.A good upgrade is to one with the common blade fuse found in cars today.Everybody sells blade fuses,even walgreens.I picked up 2 from o’riellys for about $6 each,I think they were a 6 fuse box, and the nice thing is they hook together and have a dust cover. -

Nice ride.
I have seen a few go for $6000 on the bay.Looks real close to the real thing,except for the 4 lug wheels and the headlight brackets.I would Think you could get $6000 or better. -

Try getting a cable for a full size ford same year 78 with a Sraight 6.The cable should longer because the carb will be further from the firewall.

Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic No Coil Spark in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 11 months ago
The coil should ground internally through the points. Go back to basics.Ground engine to battery.Hot lead to starter,run a HOT wire to the coil from the battery.should fire.DOUBLE check your conections on the coil.VW runs a 1 and 15 not a + – get the right hook up – should go to the dizzy.and + to the battery.Just pull the hot lead from the coil…[Read more]

Roy maybe this will help.
The guy I got the frame from was planning a V8 build of an original 52 TD.Tells me he had one back in the day.I could have had the whole car,and may end up with it yet.I just set the 283 in the frame to get an idea of how crazy some guys were back then.I guess its no worse than a 1200 pound T bucket with a hemi.(ya local… -

Roy I know dub front fender lights also Have what you are looking for.You could always hit your local pick and pull (salvage) and take a walk through and see if it’s worth the effort to remove old dry rotted boots.
Hey just hit me a short piece of heater hose and fill the end with silicone?

Roy,
Sorry I didagree on the vw.Chevy’s from pre 85 are by far cheaper to maintain.VW long blocks new sell for 1700-3000 and somtimes more.and its still not a complete engine.and also still only 60-and up horses.On the chevy side,GM crate 350,275 horse turn key complete,1700-2500 and a 3 year 45000 mile factory warrenty if is goes back into a gm… -

Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic Repainting in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago
Sorry I’m not an expert.However you are going to have to break the glaze of the gelcoat for anything to stick.I have not reaserch but I would think the gelcoat is very similar to the clearcoat on cars today,just thicker.
Give it try with some 400 and see if paint sticks.Rattle can is not the best solution,generally a good primer needs a 400 grit…[Read more] -

One of the nicer advantages of the VW based.I can plunk myself on my wheeled shop stool and work on the engine.Sure beats leaning over a fender and getting a sore back.
