I am going to assume it’s an HEI ignition.I have never had a module fail.Be sure you have the corect heat sinc dialectric grease between the module and mounting surface without it they will burn out. Also check your power lead to the dizzy should have 12 volts, less could cause an issue. My next check would be the coil could have an internal…[Read more]

  • Ok I had a little time this morning.Looked up an alternator kit at cip1,$150 for plain finish,$160 for all but the alternator in chrome. And free shipping. If you check them out type in alternator kit in the search box.

  • I think the problem of needing a spacer is with the single port engines.I have had both, the single port needed a spacer for the carb to clear the larger diameter of the alternator. With the dual port it cleared. also buy an alternator kit, comes with everthing needed, including wiring directions. If I recall I purchased mine from cip1.

  • Back when I built my trike I used a 10-12 gallon plastic boat fuel tank.I think it cost around $25 back then I think they run around $35-$40 now. Most fleet farm or farm and fleet, depending on your location. have them,or a boat dealer.

  • Ed cip1 a vw parts house sells them spring clips to hold the adjusters.I replaced all of mine, they are only peened in place,I filed the edges smooth to fit the new ones and tack welded them in place.

  • Well I certainly hope that the previous reasercher that was working on my case,Is now sweeping Up cigarette butts in a walmart parking lot somewhere.
Like I said I am just very happy things have finally gone through with this car.
I had other options (including an original MG TD title)but wanted to go about it the right and legal way.

  • Should be a few good days left in september to get out.Should also have what’s called an indian summer where it gets warm at the end of sept.,early oct..But at this point I would get out in the cold if I had to,as I’m one of them crazy ice fishermen so not bothered too much by the cold.
Just very happy someone at the state knew what they were doing.

  • Big Al you must be refering to the one in california. If I had the time and money I would grab the whole works. If I read the ad correctly you would be getting 4 cars for 1 money, but you should be able to work out a good deal on the 2 mg’s and there sould be enough between the 2 for 1 nice driver and parts left to keep you suplied for awhile.

  • My guess is

Ok I didn’t spend alot of time looking but,I found the H5 to be 68-69 1500 engine.A coil at my local autozone is $28,price will differ at your location, their listing also requires the coil matched to the distributor number, but who knows if that has been changed on your engine. The good is any coil for the 68-69 1500 should get you going.

Ok new information ,new problem. Why is the battery dead? too much cranking and wore it down? How is the charging system in the car?Take the battery in to one of your local major parts stores and have it load tested.Or better yet charge the battery and drive it over and they can check the whole system. It only takes one bad cell to give the sympoms…[Read more]

Well from what you posted, you have constant spark? It sounds more fuel related to me.But check the cap and rotor and points first, unless there is an electronic module, then I would say thats the culprit.Mine went after 16 miles.Check for loose wires at the coil could have a bad blade connector. And for that stuff they call sarting fluid today, looks…[Read more]

  • Dan remove the 3 screws that hold the whole blinker assemley in place, work the unit up and drill a small hole in the end opposite where it’s broke and push it out with a small ice pick. There is a snap ring inside the whole works that is holding.Even when they aren’t broke it takes a bit of force to pull the stick out.

  • Sorry can’t give a good answer as to no driving in January.Although you can,you have to preapply for a permit at a cost of $5 for 5 days,or $30 for the whole month, buy the month permit you get a day free.
Now for me,where I am located I am usually more upset (kind description)about having to spend half the day removing SNOW from the drivway and…[Read more]

  • After looking over the paperwork,I do believe it will be titled as a 1953 MG.Wether or not they ad the TD body type or brand as a replica/or kit,I won’t know for sure till the title comes back in the mail.
The breakdown of the 219.50 is,69.50 for title fee,and 150 for my second hobby plate, which is non expirering, like a collector plate.Unlimited…[Read more]

Must have firmed up my skull though,I recall bashing heads with a neighborhood kid playing some kids game, and the end result was I caved in his forhead, and he was transported to the Hospital by…[Read more]

  • Update;
The inspector finally called back monday afternoon.Short story is Car will be inspected Monday the 14th.The officer seemed kind of rude on the phone, but I guess that’s to be expected in this situation. The good part is I only have to meet Wisconsin saftey standards for 1953.
I will post how it goes.
