I thought about doing that a while back, before joining this forum, and concluded that the accessory drive for the alternator would not clear. Since then manufacturers have devised brackets that tuck it in real close. Problem s…[Read more]

You might also begin to pull wires from the fuse panel one at a time while it’s making the noise. Once the noise disappears you’ve identified the circuit that it’s on.

Just looked to see where Townsend is. Man, you have some wonderful roads in that area. You’re positioned just north of the Dragon. Almost jealous. Finish the car!!!

Thanks, Vicenc. I’ve been called worse. What I posted is basically what Ed posted several months ago. I went searching for the “Add Media” prompt and posted every step. When I was finished and went back to look at what Ed had done, I found the steps were fairly identical. All kudos go to Ed.

It doesn’t matter which one you click as you are taken to the same screen with the same options. It’s just the one you choose comes…[Read more]

Any garage with a wheel balancer can tell you the width of the wheel without dismounting the tire. There is a gauge used so you can set up the machine for correct balancing. Takes two seconds.

billnparts replied to the topic Setting Gas Tank Float in the forum VW Based Kits 8 years, 11 months ago
I don’t believe the length of the channel will make any difference. The travel of the float arm is your main concern. My channel is cut down to about four inches so I could make it fit into the tank. Just be sure the location of the float mount allows for full travel.
