Stopped to get a pic
June 21, 2012 at 9:54 am #250872I dont know if your looking for attractive “bling” or just to function, but here is a step that straps on the spare. It is adjustable and is supposed to hold 500 lbs. (Of course your rear cover wont hold that much, but…) I saw one similar posted last year on a thread. and its fairly cheep!!!
it does adjust for height and the platform is 22″ x 9″If not this one I just did a quick search for “Tire Step” on google and found several.June 11, 2012 at 3:31 pm #250831My wife took the pictures. But he does like to hang out of the car when we aren’t looking. Those fenders are what make the car in my opinion.
June 11, 2012 at 12:13 pm #250829Oh forgot to mention that I rewired my horn and installed a hidden stereo. I will post pics of the finished product later. I still need to find out where I want to fit the speakers in so they can be heard but not seen. Any suggestions are welcome. CHC3252012-06-11 12:14:23
June 11, 2012 at 9:34 am #249561Welcome Tex, Hope you find a good ride/project. My father lives not far from you in Dumas. There is a show there every year and I am venturing out a little more and may go to that show. Like TexAg said always good see a fellow Texan.
June 11, 2012 at 9:27 am #250828Thanks, it’s been a lot of fun. My son has taken claim to the car and made sure to tell anyone that stopped by even the judges that it was NOT for sale. LOL

February 17, 2012 at 10:23 am #248257TexAg71,
I don’t get it out much but have not had anyone look too hard at the plates. We have a lot of out-of-state traffic here due to the wind turbines so when they see the blue plate on the back they seem to look the other way. The registration and inspection stickers in the center is perfectly legal in my opinion. The inspection sticker says that is must be with in 6 inches of the registration sticker. From what I can find the registration sticker just has to be on the windshield. My brother is a local in Burkburnette and he also could not show me anywhere that it has to be in the lower left. I have always been one to question what is “normal” or “common knowledge” mainly due to I am in a quality group for GE Wind. I inspect and write procedures for our field services so I have to question everything to make sure the correct information is given to our field guys. I like to dig up skeletons and find the root cause. But anyways I don’t get much more than a wave or thumps up from anyone.February 10, 2012 at 3:46 pm #249031Well then your welcome for bringing the average age down a few. I love these cars and my 5 year old actually says its his so maybe that will help too.
February 10, 2012 at 11:05 am #24902533 and purchased my little red car June of last year.

February 10, 2012 at 10:25 am #248942Ok well I guess I’m the young buck in this but thought I would share.
First car was a ’76 Ford Mustag II 4 cylinder (never got to drive it as I was only 13 at the time.) Dad bought it for us to tinker with but never got her road worthy before we had to move across Texas. Sold her but she was the best looking baby blue Mustang II (in my opinion) that ever was. Dad bought me a Honda Elite 50 S when I was old enough to drive it and I drove that to school and to drivers ed to get a license. After we moved I found a Honda 250 Rebel that I could toy around with in High School.
Then I started my run through drivable cars, trucks and motorcycles.
- 1985 Chrysler LaBaron
- 1985 Ford F150 (351 Windsor with dual glass pack)
- 1990 Suzuki Samuri (rebuilt motor once then replaced with 1.6 liter for the extra horsepower = 107) could pull anything with the rock crawler gears I had in it.
- 1995 Honda Rebel 250 (this one was street legel and I drove it from south of Houston to Bryan and back to visit my cousins at A&M. long ride on a little bike)
- 1991 Ford Mustang LX Hatchback (Had more power in the sound system than the motor)
- 1997 Suzuki GSXR 750 (race suspension ME-Z3 race compound tires. Road from Albuquerque, NM to Bakersfield, CA and back in just over 36 hours just because I could.)
- 1998 Citroen Xantia (Stationed in England Right side drive 5 speed with hydraulic adjusted suspension)
- 1963 Austin Mini 850 (purchased for 50 Pounds)
- 1964 Austin Mini 998 (Ran like a dream had the larger ralley wheels on it and was a bright orange. you could see it commin.)
- 1991 Nissan D21 Pickup (Still have it today may be my sons first truck)
- 1998 Ford F150 4X4 (straight 6 with 3 in body and 2 in suspension lift on 38 in tires. all of 10 miles per gallon down hill with the wind at my back LOL)
- 1998 Chevy Cheyenne Stepside (305 Vortec)
- 2005 Pontiac GrandAm (V6)
And the piece de resistance
- 1952 MG TD replica (Modern Corsair built on 74 Karmann Ghia rear 1600cc and VW bus front)

You can use your email to resize pictures. If you are using outlook its as simple as going to file and selecting to have the pics resized. If you are using Hotmail or Yahoo they also have functions to reduce the size of a pic.
Another way is to open the pic in paint and use the tools to resize by percentage. The pics can then be saved either using another name or the same if you dont mind having the smaller pics.
Yet another way is to open an excel file and insert your pic in a box then resize accordingly. Right click on the pic choose cut, then go to file and select paste special. Use the .jpg option. It should then paste the pic. Right click the pic again and copy, open paint and paste. Then save.
I use most of these (not so) short cuts when my computer decides to act up.
July 11, 2011 at 10:14 pm #245391BDriver, It was manufactured by Modern Classic Corsair in late 70’s or early 80’s best I can find.
I can’t take credit for the photos as my wife has the photography bug. She was upset when we “lost the light” but was a great ride. even cooled off a little if you can call 86 cool. Got to love Texas.
ray10, I found the plate at an antique shop in Colorado City, Texas. Still looking for a match set. It does raise a few eyebrows from the local police. I have the actual plates in the bonnet.

June 1, 2011 at 1:29 pm #244994Thanks, would like to get a cad drawing made up so we can use it to compare. I will look into a cad program I can use at home to model. May be able to look at “refignments” before cutting and wrenching.
