September 17, 2009 at 11:31 pm #239260Air Horns are the way to go . I mounted mine in the hood area of my ford powered MGTD. Truck horns with oversized air pump, they shake the car.
Also electronic horn and a 80 watt siren driver. When you re this small you need to be loud.
Remember the movie THE MOUSE THAT ROARED

September 9, 2009 at 5:54 pm #239233Sorry to speak out of place. I have owned both CMC kit and as with most peopleopinions can get you in trouble. I spent a long time finding my TD.
The problem is after seeing so many bad cars you tend to speak to generaly about other cars.
My only issue with baket wires is they rust and require upkeep, but the so do wire wheels.
I you take two identical TD cars side by side , I feel that the wire wheels will make one car stand out above the other.
Again sorry if I spoke out of term. There are to few of us to stand up for these fine automobiles.
Sorry
September 7, 2009 at 1:25 am #239228I have been driving on a set of 80 spoke real wire eheels from MG Magic. I am veryy happy with then . They are made by MCLean Wheels.
I started with tubeless installation, I could park the car foe 30 days and not loose any air. I could drive it 50 miles and loose 10 pounds of pressure.
My recomendation is to tube the rims and don’t worry about air loss. I find the basket wires cheap and tackey in aperance, Ok if you driving a Gazelle?
After changing to wires it has greatly improved the aperance of the car.
I used 3 inch round spot mirrors to cover the center caps and put MG logos on the center of the mirrors. The final effect was excellent.
The fifth wheel on the back of the car is pure eye candy . I installed blue LED strip lighting behind the spare and connected it to the running lights.
Look great at night. Add the center cut out wheel cover from MG Magic to finish the project.
September 4, 2009 at 11:18 pm #238934In referance to the chrome basket wheels, they in xtremly good condition for 27 years old. No Rust

September 3, 2009 at 3:37 pm #238931I have a full set of origional basket wires ( complete with all baskets and caps) They are for the Ford CMC MGTD.
I changed to 80 spoke wires and don’t need them.

September 3, 2009 at 3:33 pm #239025I own a CMC ford MGTD with a V6 automatic set up. I am runing oversized tires on 80 spoke wire wheels. The MGTD now has air shocks to lift the rear and clear the tires.
I am getting ready to convert to coil over shocks and add the mounting plates needed . Does any one have a specific referance for the recomended coil shock unit?
September 3, 2009 at 1:03 am #239567I own one of the few factory built MGTD with ford V6 engine. I have spent the past two years restoring it to better then new condition. It has as many origional MG parts as replica comonents. It has fooled many true MG driver/owners.
I run with a Texas car Club and get tired of the “Is it real or is it a Kit Car questions”
I made the mistake of putting a price on the car, and someone took me up on buying the car, go figure. I price it at $17,500 and when the pending buyer tried to lower the price, I rased it to $20,000
I know it is crazy not to sell it, but I am attached to the car. It is totally dependable and gets more attention then any of the othe 32 ford coupe kit Cars that my friends have spent more then $40,000 to build. And guess what their cars are still kit cars on the best of days. They put a few original parts on them and then they think they own the real thing.
Anyone can write a check for $40,000 and have a show ready 32 ford Kit Car, but it takes a commitment to take a 30 year old kit car and bring it up to new standards
