Look at the photos in “Gone and Done It” a post of mine from a few years ago. I took mine apart and painted it. It had gone through a couple accidents. The gel coat was restorable.

Ever tell you how much I hate Windows 10? Anyway, the slave cylinder I chose did not work out. I bought a slave from Wilwood that pulls rather than pushes. This also simplified the mount. After several disappointing road tests that resulted in clutch slippage and/or improper pedal travel I invested in a reverse bleeder tool that managed to remove…[Read more]

Roy I agree with you that $15K is way high, even for an Allison or BCW, but like I said, he is allowed to dream. 😉
And better luck next year. UNC fought a great fight but those last three seconds were a killer. I been ribbing my son all day, he’s UNC ’96. -

Those are both nice replicas that could–and should–fetch a bit more than the going rate of $4-$5k. It is my humble opinion that our cars should be worth more than that on average, judging by the going prices for Speedster replicas, which are generally very similar to our (VW-based) cars under the skin.

Alan Merklin, AKA “Dr. Clock” of the Speedster group, has used Dolphins on several of his recent builds. If he had problems he’d tell us and, so far, he hasn’t.

edward ericson replied to the topic Duchess jack point in the forum VW Parts Wanted 10 years ago
I’ll second Paul. I use the beam in front and the crossmember in back–BCW has a 1.5-inch square tube clamped across the frame horns, just ahead of the engine. That’s easier to reach with my jack.
I have used the jack points to lift one whole side of the car. It definitely flexes. One reason I’m interested in those bolt-through pan-stiffeners… -

Sounds from the east coast – I won’t make it this year but I see one big thing missing. The cruise together down the coast or in the mountains. It could be the drive to get there is the cruise?
