Well. My info is BCW made their own body panels & stuff. I don’t know where they got their Chevettes, but a west-coast accessory company would not be the obvious source. We could call Jack Fussenegger and ask.

None in mine. But here’s my theory–which you can check by chasing some corporate records in PA: Like BCW, American Sunroof WAS the Fussenegger’s company & the factories were tied together.

Before you replace the alternator, check the grounds on it. With these cars–and with most old cars–electrical faults are almost always ground-related.
Here’s a junkyard alternator guide that helped me get a little smarter. Please excuse me if this kind of stuff is way beneath your knowledge level.edsnova2016-02-04 21:13:27

So, looking for more Elvis-TD info I come across this shot of JFK & Jackie on their honeymoon in Acapulco, Mexico, 1953.

Great picture. I had no idea The King ever appeared in a TD. Would love to know more about that.

You did great. You could never build anything like I was suggesting for anything close to that.

If you got it as cheap as those initial bids looked, you did good. Worst case scenario: clean it up and sell it on.

Go up a bit for autoX. Like, 22 in front & 28 rear. Otherwise lower. After I bought new tires the knuckleheads at the tire shop pumped like 35 lbs in all 4 of em. Thought my teeth were gonna shake out on the ride home.

I’m running 18 psi front – 24 psi rear and it’s been working really well.

Putting the shift plate in rightside-up ++
The spring clip on that dang shift bushing…don’t even get me started. Season before last I did that job for the second time since I’ve had the car, since I had to shorten the shift rod for the Suby swap.It is said, by the Speedster Owners, that a couple winds of mechanic’s wire will do as well & is… -

I was shocked the first time I slid behind the wheel of Bridget. It felt all wrong, the steering wheel was way, way too close to my chest. Nothing like the way I adjust every other car I’ve driven in ever.
Then I got used to it.Sometimes now, in the summer time, I slide behind the wheel of my pickup truck and that feels weird and wrong. -

I made the remark about adding bracing to discourage you from removing any. I’m not sure there is room to add any and not run into fitment issues with the body panels. There is a thread here on secondary door latches that a lot of us have added to keep the doors in place.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and posit that fiberglass body panels are not a significant structural element on any of our cars.
The TDs had adjustable struts to reinforce the area behind the three-hinged bonnet. And, as far as fitment goes: I doubt the Fiberfabs are much worse than the originals, which TD restorers are always complaining… -
billnparts replied to the topic Original hood in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 10 years, 2 months ago
“the fiberfab chassis I am working with is grossly over built, I have even considered chopping it up and lightening many of the tubes. Don’t think it is an issue.”That grossly overbuilt frame will still flex. Several people here on the forum have witnessed the self opening doors on mine. If anything, add bracing.billnparts2016-01-29 06:58:20

Measure twice, then measure again. Then begin.
You can find original TD hood parts, but they’re a bit spendy. And like Paul says, you will almost certainly have to modify them substantially. The way to go, then, imho, is to use the top piece of hood from your kit, and buy a couple of pieces of flat aluminum (find a truck trailer scrapper) to make… -

I like that idea. Please post photos.
I have some very old TD original dash trim on mine. I like the worn out brass look but I’m sure it’s not everyone’s favorite beverage. For the top piece I used the thinnest stick-on chrome moulding from one of the usual supply houses. Very nice flexible stuff, looks the part and sticks great, but lacks that… - Load More
