That is the BCW cap, per the original kit. I kind of wish it said “PETROL” instead of “GAS” but you can’t have everything now, can you?

Jack, is that a Reial Automobil Club de Catalunya badge on the front of that fine looking car????

I put Montse away in December and she doesn’t come out until after the first rain in Spring. Life is tough in this frozen hell. -

You just cut off the squared-off part and clean behind it, then stick some aluminum tape on the back side and glass over the holes you made from the outside. Peel the tape off after the first layer or two and glass the back (or just leave the tape there and glass out past it an inch or so), then glass the outside again and shape it with 80-grit.…[Read more]

I’ll probably do a little propane burning and a little electric heating out there before the winter is through. But I’ll need close to 50,000 btu to get that place warm enough to work when it’s 20 degrees outside–10 of these. It is 1000-1100 square feet with 9-foot ceilings, and only about 20 percent of it is attached to the house. Well…[Read more]

I’d adapt a flip-top cap like this. Or this. More work and money, but in the end you’ll be happy.
Take the gas tank cage and fake tank off. Cut off (or unclamp–you might get lucky!) the existing modern screw-type neck, and then clamp a rubber gas tank filler to the bottom of your new filler neck. Screw or bolt it to the top of your fake tank.… -

The BCW I have came with VW Bug wipers and they worked–very slowly. I believe BCW cars all used the VW wiper motor.
The plinths leaked a little when it rained, so I blocked them off and put a boat-style wiper and original TD wipers through the top of the windscreen frame. Still very slow, and now the passenger side wiper doesn’t actually touch the… -

What’s he asking for the Volvo car? It sounds really nice. The MGA rear gives it longer legs for highway cruising. It’s a good match for the Volvo engine and the bolt circle is right for wire wheel adapters. The disc brakes are a very good addition as well. Makes it stop, and parts are easy enough.
To make it ride smoother, more like a Chevette,… -

I carry the Eden Pure style heater from my basement room to the garage when I work there in the winter. Heats that space wonderfully.

The P-1800 engine was a popular period swap, and doubled the horsepower. Often it came with an overdrive transmission too. Ask about it.
Original TDs have not kept up with inflation. A very nice example can be had for about $18,000. (And by “very nice” I mean “a fresh, 99-point restoration that cost the owner $28,000 and about six years of… -

Tom: I have a BCW but rear-engined. Your car looks great and so does Ric’s.
I have a VW build manual but of course yours are as different as can be. I do know a little about the front-engined BCWs from talking to another owner who came and went, ClockDoc.Yes, the frames are “custom” but they are pretty rudimentary. Simple ladder frame with… -

A V6 car? Cool. Gabe built one totally custom. The automatic should be a C3 or C4 assuming it’s only a three speed.

edward ericson replied to the topic Manufacturer Determination in the forum Manufacturer Comparison 10 years, 3 months ago
Could be a BCW, but I don’t think so. This car looks like no other replica I have seen.
The wiper is up top, and it shows no plinth for them on the cowl. That is custom. The dash is BCW-shaped but everything in/on it is custom.Seats are not BCW, nor is any of the fabric in the interior BCW style. All custom. The fold down windshield could be BCW but… -

I like the color combo. I don’t recall seeing another one like it. Definitely a unique approach on the dash layout. Wires!!
