I like that idea. No need to remove the tonneau when the top is required. Get less wet when it starts to rain

Here are the photo posting instructions provided by the great Ed Ericson.
First you go to your own thing. Upper right corner it should say something like “Howdy, Happy Jack.” Click on that and you get a drop-down menu. At the bottom it says “media.” Hover over that with your curser and you should see another drop-down menu with “albums,…

Good on you, Dereck.
I have a rear-engined BCW and they’re a lot of fun to tool around in, and a really good base for making a passably realistic looking TD replica.

That’s looking great Bill.
@dennis-p point of clarification: Bill’s is a GT style wheel. “Banjo” wheels have wire spokes that look a bit like banjo strings. Like mine (above) and:
…which is also mine…
Which means I guess I have duelin’ banjos.

edward ericson replied to the topic Values of MGTD Replica's Today? in the forum General Discussion 3 years, 1 month ago
For insurance purposes just get an “agreed value” policy and never think of it again. $10-$15k will more than cover the replacement cost and no insurance agent will blink. Just remember to get plenty of liability in case someone gets hurt. Insurance companies don’t sweat the value of the vehicle, it’s the medical bills they seek to avoid.

Short grill was a MiGi feature but I don’t know if they were molded in like that.
Fog lights are always optional. TD bumpers can also be had.

Those Opel gauges look about right, size-wise.
Love the vinyl cover. That’s how they came stock and it’s a rare look these days.

The replica dashes are all a bit different from the originals, mostly around the steering shaft relief, and also in the gauge holes.
I bought a used real dash for the brass/chrome beads and the door hardware and then replicated it from marine plywood and bits of nice mahogany and maple.
Documented the project here, here, here, here, here, here…[Read more]

Hi Folks. Due to medical issues, I was forced to not run the Pagoda Hillclimb in June. We decided to take in the 106th running of the Giants Despair Hillclimb in Laurel Run just outside Wilkes-Barre, PA to make up for it.
This was my first encounter with this hill. Very steep but with mostly nicely cambered turns.
The video is of my first (and…[Read more]

Hi all,
I’m encountering an issue with the front engine BCW that I didn’t have with the rear engine MIGI. As soon as the engine warms up, the cabin temperature starts rising. I am thinking about pulling up the carpets and installing an insulation kit. If any of y’all have done this or have any other suggestions, I would appreciate the sc…[Read more]

Hey folks some of you know I built a 550 Spyder replica & showed it at Carlisle in 2021. It was a kick to build and it’s a blast to drive but I’m loyal to Bridget, which I had first and which my wife fits in, so the Spyder is listed on Bring a Trailer right now.
Please tell your friends & family to bid early, often and enthusiastically.

Hi Guys and Gals. I was going through my calendar and decided to email George concerning the VA Air and Auto show. Yes, there will be one scheduled. Save the dates for the weekend of Oct. 8.
For those that have never attended it’s held at the Military Aviation Museum outside of VA Beach. Lots of vintage warbirds on display with several flying…[Read more]
