Nary any snittiness from the BCW dude. I asked him to post our badge quite a while ago (making very clear that we’re a replica club) and he did straight away, but the link did not work. I emailed him about that & he finally got ’round to fixing the link, with apologies for the delay.I always try to drive that week anyway, and of course my car…[Read more]

Bump.Carlisle dreamers: it’s time to commit. Your ticket is cheap and a hotel reservation can be cancelled pretty close to the event, if need be. It’ll be much harder if you wait ’till you’re sure and try to book late.

Yeah, those are great. Too bad no foreign makes there–at least not yet.

Man, I knew I originally built this thing in a hurry, but the shortcuts I’m finding make me just shake my head.

This may be unorthodox, but I found this much more useful than the
fender mounted mirrors. I just stuck it on the dash for the hell of it,
and found I had better visibility, so I recessed it for a permanent installation. -

I have a couple motorcycle mirrors screwed into the windshield stanchions for extra side-view visibility. The car came with a similar rig, round mirrors, that were clamped to home-made aluminim brackets that I didn’t care for. They could work on just about any TD though. Up for grabs if you’ll pay shipping. The fender mirrors are not especially…[Read more]

Ah–much easier than mine will be–if I ever do it. Of course, that also means that all the PITA fitting adjustments to make the body fit the pan are still to be done.

Wow. How tough was that? Was she glued on with caulk? Bolts? Rivets? Both?

Stained in and out, front and back. A little more re-gluing & epoxy
filling where my stupidity in the initial construction left voids in the
interior of the dash.
Glovebox interior is stained, and I even sanded down the light, wiper, flasher and original TD glovebox door knobs & stained ’em. That’s the flasher there on the back of the…[Read more] -

John’s from down south. They call him “Hoss” ‘cuase of his hat. He has an SAS Subie which is mid-engined and cost him something like $30k and for which he waited years–SAS is infamous for keeping customers waiting for years. Hoss is an excellent person but I have no interest in that sort of action, and I doubt anyone here does either. The…[Read more]

In as much as I would like to see the finished dash, you would do well to keep it hidden until Carlisle. You want to see it, come to Carlisle. I am looking forward to its presentation.

It’s like you soldered ’em in! :-)That “grabbing what’s on top and gettin’ it done” thing has bitten me any number of times. 14 years ago I was buying my first house & it was a definite “first time buyer” kind of deal. Hadn’t been lived in for 5-7 years and the old lady who owned it (she’d grown up there; parents bought it new in 1928) was doing…[Read more]

Frustrating. When I bought my welder to do my rear suspension, it said the wire was for non gas usage which was what I wanted. None of my welds held. I put the pieces together, took it for a drive and came home on a hook. Didn’t figure it out until I went to replace the empty roll of wire and found the welder had come with the wrong wire. Once the…[Read more]
