I think you’re right that the strip is a ground. The gauges might give some indication on the back. See if you can find a minus sign somewhere or a GND. As for the quarter inch of bracket shortness, are you including the thickness of your fiberglass ur-dash? Or are the holes in that way larger than your actual dashboard fascia?

Wow, thanks Roy. I’ve sourced one though. Should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. As for your ebrake move, You don’t need a new handle. And if you can weld, the only thing you even want is a 4 x 6-inch piece of 1/8 mild steel to stitch weld over the hole you’re going to make by cutting the bracket out. Just for piece of mind. I actually moved mine last…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic power inverter in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 5 months ago
I think if you plug a boom box into a power inverter you’re double-inverting it. The box wants something like eight 1.5 volt D batteries. But they were monster battery-eaters and so they were made with a plug-in cord which converted the house current to 12 volts DC. So what you’re doing now is taking the 12 volts DC that the boom box wants,…[Read more]

Sounds good – like I said – I could go either way – I am sure it will be pick your own seat so it will be easy to arrange our own table if that is what everyone wants to do.For a long time Paul and I were the only TD guys w/ all the speedie guys and although sometimes it felt like we were outsiders I think we are now part of the group – It would…[Read more]

I’m looking forward to meeting all of you. There should be enough of us
to commandeer a separate table. Should be plenty of time to organizesomething once we all arrive at the fairground. -

I paid Bruce already but if y’all want to peel off I’m sure he’ll kick it back. I was thinking maybe we should get a TD table going. Also to note: there will be some TD love in the prize drawing.

Guys,
Is everyone that is going to Carlisle going to the Saturday night gig? Seems cost is 30.00 a head – a little high in my book, but I can go either way. Just thinking out loud here, but it might be a good night for the MG guys to have their on gig ( dinner ). I am going to all the rest of the activities ( Thursday – Sunday and I do own a… -
edward ericson replied to the topic Wheel Back Space in the forum VW Based Kits 13 years, 5 months ago
That is very interesting. I could see how the different wheel spacings could mess up the steering geometry on your turns; the scrub radius would be different side to side, and then the vectors (toe-in/out) would also be a little off. But I did not know the same width wheels could be so for off.I think mine are all different too–some Brazilian,…[Read more]

Chirco used to sell a dune buggy harness. Might stillOr maybe painless wiring? My check of these hot-rod looms last year revealed some nice, expensive products, but nothing to drop in direct. I ended up buying a few rolls of wire, some connectors, and getting ‘er done with the wires that were already in her. Worked (mostly) but I’ll be chasing…[Read more]

“green shoots,” as they say in the economics department. That said, I haven’t noticed any increase other than the bump you see every spring. Here’s one doing pretty well, IMHO, on ebay. $5,000 with a few hours left.

I did the stations with the dog this morning.Well, not exactly the stations of the cross, but a pretty long walk nonetheless. At 6:30 or so he (the dog) was risen, and would be neither mocked nor denied (I tried both). While out and about we did see the Easter Bunny, and Fritz gave chase. Bunny won, as always.Happy Easter, everyone!

Mike, that looks great. Good job. FYI, I was definitely not the first to go with the 3487 exhaust on this site. I learned of it here. And mine is a bit proud of the bumper too; just took a little punishment from a very high curbstone. It’s also scraped on the way out the driveway more than once. Scraped up a bit but no flaking so far. If I were you…[Read more]

Ohh, Buzz is onto something. I think if I was you I’d be looking at the v6. Shorter, so less weight up front, and still plenty of grunt. If you have a 4.3 handy there’s probably no need to go source a 60-degree version. That said, I ran my 3.1 for 150,000 + miles with no issues except the coil pack and alternator (they eat alternators–but that…[Read more]
