Always good advice. My take on the story was that the boilerplate language was as ancient as the automobile models it proscribed.

Very nice! And is that also a useable commuter mug?

edward ericson replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years ago
NICE!So the way forward then, is to get some leaf springs off an old pickup truck or something in the bone yard, and then cut those to the shape we want. Having cut my own springs once, many moons back, I advise any contemplating this work to NOT rely on their handy hacksaw. It can be done–just like breaking out of Alcatraz can be done. . . .

I think CA law demands that all the OE smog junk be present and accounted for, bolted to the engine, hoses all hooked up, no matter what the sniffer at the tailpipe says. Because so much of ’70s smog equipment was nonsense (based mostly on the then-trendy principle of dilution–see, for example, the Air Injection Reactor Pump*), and because smog…[Read more]

I think it’s a Berkeley, probably an SE-328 “Deluxe.” The owner wasn’t near it when I passed so I just spent a half hour on the Google. Air-cooled, 18-horses, and a fiberglass body. Maybe I should’ve said “yes” when the guy at the gate asked me if I wanted to put Bridget on the show field. Here’s another shot of that engine, through the…[Read more]

I’ll vouch for Dale’s car’s finish. It is the cleanest TD I’ve seen.

side curtains are terrible. Interior looks good though. And the engine is apparently complete. Might be a deal at $3k

MG,
I did all the repairs you are talking about on my TD ( 4 plus years ago and no

well.
If you want to tackle you can PM me as well and we can talk over the phone
as well – I can give you the name of the products to use as well.

edward ericson replied to the topic 1835 cc engine dual carbs in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years ago
Rich Wobby has an Allison and I think he picked up a dual carb setup. Don’t know if he’s tried to fit it yet.I bought a funnel-type air cleaner and ducted it to the top of the carb. The air cleaner is hanging down the right side of the fan shroud. I had it zip-tied but that failed, so looking for better solutions. It works though.

edward ericson replied to the topic 1835 cc engine dual carbs in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years ago
Looks to me like there are some very substantial differences in engine room among the various kits. Bridget–a British Coach Works Model 52–is extremely tight under the rear deck, without room for even a low profile bug air filter atop its single Solex carb. Small dual carbs might fit on her but because of the narrow opening into the engine bay,…[Read more]
