  • WOW I am real impressed with your work for not having a garage to work in. I had my frame, wheels and all of the engine tin sandblasted to the bare metal. It looked like your frame but it cleaned up very nicely.Wishing you continued success in your build. I enjoyed seeing your posted slide show, thanks.Dave

Another thought is if you look on E Bay, you will find several self adhesive stickers, to put on a non logo VW “moon style hub cap”. The stickers are a shinny metallic background, with a nice black MG Octogon logo. I have seen several of these in various sizes.Just my two cents.Dave

  • My Classic Roadster did not come with fender braces either. The head light support appears to hold the fenders steady, and I have had people lean on the fenders or try to flex them, with no apparent problems. If you do add fender braces, be sure to double check the clearance of the tire as you turn it, so it does not interfere with the stop to…[Read more]

Hey Greg, my Dutchess kit from Classic Roadsters in Fargo, ND, did not come with a picnic basket. The wife and I found a nice lined basket, and added our own stuff for four people. We also have a portable zippered canvas bag that holds two wine bottles, and accessories. This is the most important part of our picnic set up. 😉 A big shout out of…[Read more]

  • I agree with Johnsimion! When I refinished my dash, re wired it, and added extra holes for a new four way flasher switch, and a cigarette lighter outlet for my GPS, I NEEDED SEVERAL ADULT BEVERAGES, after I was done each day. I did the whole job myself, it took me about four weeks. You just want it to come out perfect, as it is a major focal point…[Read more]

  • I am having this put on my new car cover. “Caution Car Alarm is On” When I go to car shows, my car insurance company, Heacock, has given me several free (Please do not touch) signs. When I park at a motel during an over night event, I put a “Car Boot” on the right front wheel that I have turned hard to the right. This plus the car cover helps me…[Read more]

  • I guess a lot of the “orginal MGs” are becoming harder to find, or becomming to pricy to afford them. So many people are turning to MGTDr as a substitute. The old rule of supply and demand is helping the value of our well maintained cars appreciate. Then again the dealers always ask for more, as they seek major profits. Like Paul says …………[Read more]

  • WOW!, what a great story, and a wonderful way to honor your Father in Law. My parents had an orginal “Woody Station Wagon” and my dad made hammocks in the back for us kids to sleep in on the long trip drives that we took from Buffalo to Georgina Bay, Canada. Such great memories.Be safe driving that “Woody”!Regards Dave

Speaking of wiring up accessories, does any one have any thoughts about adding a 4 way emergency flasher switch, and how to do so? ThanksDave Lakeland, Florida Where we drive topless every day. 😉

  • I agree with Paul, I have a Classis Roadster “Dutchess” and it not the same in the picture. In comparing my friends orginal 52 MGTD, it appears to be an orginal car. As far as the price goes, my friend says it is a great deal. Just my two cents.DaveLakeland, FloridaWhere we drive topless every day

  • I also have extra fuses, a 12 VDC circuit tester, electrical tape, pliers, and a multi purpose screw driver. Another good idea is to have a foot of fuel line hose, and a flashlight just in case. Any other ideas??DaveLakeland,Florida where we drive Top Less every day

  • WOW, a Fiberglass hard top. I would be interested to learn more. I also just got done redoing my dash, and a complete re wire of it. Welcome to this wonderful club, and to the group of of our talented membership. I am glad you found us.Dave

  • Very nice car. A local friend of mine, passed by on a super deal of $15K, for one. It was fully restored, and the orginal asking price was $22K. I much prefer the look of the TD? However the was my restoration is going, I will have mucho money in my MGTRr. LOL but restorations can be expensive.DaveLakeland, Florida, where we drive Topless all…[Read more]

  • I only have the tan welting on the front and rear of the hood on my Classic Roadsters MGTDr. I relocated the battery to the front of Herbie, so I would have some additional weight up front, under the trunk area. As far as the battery cable goes, I used a string and followed the same path as the battery cable would. I also got a great deal on 10 ft…[Read more]

  • Your car is a great looking Classic Roadster. Congrats on owning a finely crafted MGTDr. Welcome to this wonderful site, several knowledgeable people here. DaveLakeland Fl

  • Beautiful car Dave. Is that a Classic Roadster Dutchess? I am almost done restoring mine, need to paint it the same color as yours. I am also thinking of painting my front grill slates a tan color like the interior. I am real envious of how your “new wheels” look. I hope you enjoy this web site, there is a lot of talented guys here.Best…[Read more]

  • If you drill new holes and shift the angle of the dangle, put 1 or 2 paint stir sticks on the body door ledge and between the bottom of the door. This will give you a comfortable space measure between the door bottom and the body door frame opening. If I had this problem, I would re fiberglass, and re in force the door hinge area, and then re…[Read more]

  • I got 5 wire spoke hub caps from MG Magic. (I had to buy the spacers for the rear wheel hubs) but hey, all 5 of my family members have really supported Herbie’s restoration.Dave
