I also have a FF price list for a “MIGI II – effective 7/20/77” which lists the price at $1875 for the “basic body kit”.
(The windshield is no longer described as “special” but now is “aluminum framed”)The 8/75 price list above seems awfully close on the heels of the 2/75 introduction by Daytona of its MiGi. Since this is only a price list, I wo…[Read more] -

John, it is possible that the cast aluminum brackets were an option on FF TDr’s. I have an August 1975 FF price list that shows that the “deluxe body kit includes one special MiGi windshield complete with safety glass”. There were a lot of other “upgrades” from the “basic kit”. The Basic kit $1495. Deluxe kit $1895.
What exactly a special w…[Read more] -

Almost 4 years ago, I called MG Magic about bumpers. They said that they had a couple that they could not sell as new. I bought one and believe it was less than $200. I could not tell it from new. Looks perfect to me. Maybe worth a phone call??

The most obvious “tells” between Daytona and Fiberfab MIGI’s:If it has the headlight buckets bolted directly to the radiator shell it is a Daytona. If the radiator shell is slightly (but noticeably) shorter, it is a Daytona. If the windshield is attached to the tub with a TD similar heavy duty cast aluminum bracket it is a Daytona. (note that the…[Read more]

Each of Daytona and Fiberfab made both Migi and Migi II cars. I have brochures from each. From an original of a Daytona Migi brochure: “…..we undertook the development in November 1974 and after many hours of mold development…we produced the FIRST MG-TD fiberglass replica body, which I named “MIGI”, in February 1975.” signed LaVerne Ma…[Read more]

Curtains into the front of the windshield frame? That’s a new one on me. I’m trying to visualize getting into or out of the car. Failed. Not very MGTD like: you’re supposed to get wet when it rains. ????

Many of out TDr’s have problems with side curtain to windwing interference and we each have different ways of tackling the problem. (It sounds like your TDr is not a BCW or an Allison, both of which have real MG-like windshields.) Also, there are a lot of differences between our tops and our side curtains. I have never seen side curtains that…[Read more]

Dave, if the dash mounted push button starter switch is just causing the starter motor to try to turn the engine over, then it is not the problem. This switch sends a signal to the starter solenoid. The solenoid pulls the starter gears into the flywheel and it at the same time, closes a contact to apply 12vdc to the starter motor. The faste…[Read more]

John offers a not unexpected difference of opinion…one of the reasons that this forum is such a valuable resource.I suppose that if I already had the material, I too might install it. Some of the sound deadening material is quite expensive….so, I guess “it depends…” ?????

IMHO, if you expect to do most of your driving with the top down or even up but with the side curtains removed, it IS overkill.

Bill, before the next hillclimb, please google how to reduce wind noise on your Go Pro. (If we could hear the exhaust, we would know your shift points and the video would be much better.) Please don’t think that I didn’t enjoy your YouTube postings.Royal2015-06-28 16:44:28

Just as the too-old Christmas tree will dump all it’s needles, so too did my MiGi with all the “small number tags” on like colored wires that JTB mentions. On MiGi’s first cleanup, I wondered what all the confetti on the carpet was from.

Ed, what were the available “fields”/display areas? I surmise that you and Vincenc were the only “kit” cars there???IMHO you (a Subi powered TD body double) really don’t have much in common with a VW except for chassis.
