Glad I could help. Mine’s on a ’69 and that’s a really good pan for these conversions. Independent (double jointed) rear suspension and ball joint front beam works well.
If you’re just starting a build, do yourself a favor and don’t cut the front beam and weld it back together twisted to “soften” the front suspension as the kit instructions will…[Read more]

What do you mean by “newer?” As far as I know, the VW Beetle’s chassis (aka pan) kept the same wheelbase from the 1940s through the end of production circa 1979, and the later Mexican/Brazilian cars were also the same: 94.5 inches. They’re not a few inches longer and don’t need to be cut to work with a TD kit.
The Superbeetle with MacPherson…[Read more]

Updates:
Of course after I got the car perfectly aligned I discovered that I’d assembled the clutch without a crucial part.
So it goes. Cory Drake (he with the Swiss Army Speedster) came up to help pull the engine and transaxle out, and I ordered the $22 clutch collar I actually had one of back when I put the Suby in Bridget (that time, I tried…[Read more]

Booked the Oceanfront Inn. Rate on the hotel website for a room with two full beds was $149, so all in it was like $343 for two nights. I looked at the Hilton Garden and it was $230 per night.
Let me know if you want to double-up.

Was just thinking it’s time to book the room. I like the place because of the garage parking but if something just as nice came about for less money I’d jump. Schu are you researching?

Great report, Bill! Glad to see you avoided any critical incidents and got up that hill with more speed. Amazing that she’s running 7/8 and you didn’t notice. My suggestion: FE block; 428ci. More is more!

Welcome! I met one of the Fusseneggers a few years ago at the Pittsburg Grand Prix. The famly still has a fiberglass parts business called Smoothline. The man did not recall how many BCWs they made. I think he said it was way fewer than 200, though he did say a lot went overseas.
