Welcome to the forum!!
I have a BCW with the Chevette engine and 4 speed trans. I love the car especially for it’s simularity to the original MGTD. However it is somewhat less than snappy but it replicates the TD in horsepower to weight ratio.
Classic Roadster Duchess built their version using the Chevette front suspension and also the Ch…[Read more] -

Good looking car!! It’s got a lot of original MG features, very authentic.
It’s very difficult to get gelcoat to shine like quality paint but it is a very longlasting and tough finish. Try the products designed for fiberglass boats which are available at any marine dealer.
I like the vertical E-brake lever. -

Hi Greg, Welcome to the forum. We are always glad to get new members . Good people and good info here.
The top frames for our cars are simply two pieces of pipe cut and bent to fit. A boat dealer can provide the fittings to attach them to the body and some dealers can make the top as well.

Hi Dick, Welcome to the forum. I too have owned a London Roadster since 1994. My car is also yellow with a brown interior. The top was brown but it ripped and I replaced it with a tan one. Is your’s on the VW pan or is it one of the custom chassis models using the coil over suspension ?

debrock, You’ve got a very special piece of history. I knew it was rare and special when you first posted the pictures ,but it’s even more special than I could have imagined. Looking forward to seeing it when you get it all done.

I found 9 ” wiper blades a Oriileys Auto Parts. I think they had to order them but it only took a day or so to get them.

GREAT JOB and thanks for the pictures and story.
Do you have any pics of the windows an could you describe how they are raised and lowered ,or are they designed to be removed as on the original MG? -

Thanks for caring. Here in Reidsville we had some minor damage, trees and limbs down and scattered power outages, but were very fortunate compared to other areas. NC ‘s damage was mostly south and east of here.

Great job Calafer! Those pictures were worth 1000 words. Do all the MP Lafers have the master cylinder relocated near the pedal assembly or is this your personal design? Also ,are the body and fenders molded in one piece?

Pat, The only VW based car I have seen with the E-brake handle any where close to vertical is the London Roadster and only the ones built on their custom pan.
Classic Roadster Duchess, which uses a bench seat gave instructions in the assembly manual how to modify the handle to be at an angle of about 30 degrees from the floor. You may be able t…[Read more] -

I’ve seen several Chevette based BCWs with the VW wheels on the web and here on the forum, but have not seen one in person . I don’t know if they reworked the wheel center or redrilled the Chevette hubs. They may have used an adapter but it did not cause the wheel to extend out beyond the fender. Sweppes and Suntan Sailor’s BCWs both have these…[Read more]

Hi Tom,
To the best of my knowledge, the wheel to fender position is determined by the location of the kit body to the VW pan. FiberFab placed the body farther to the front of the pan which allows better wheel to fender positioning AND the use of a full size MG grille but also requires a larger gas tank [engine cover] at the rear. Also the F…[Read more] -

Montie, Good for you !!!That ride probably did more good than a whole afternoon of rest and doing nothing.
I went for a ride too and the little skip I have been ignoring suddenly got worse about 15 mi. from home. I did a quick turnarround and made it back ok. Guess I’ll be diagnosing it tomorrow. -

Hi Zarco, Welcome to the forum.
There is a topic just beneath your’s that has a link to info on registering kit cars in all 50 states. I recently purchased a TD replica that was titled in NJ and had no problem titling it in NC. However, if the car has not been previously titled,be sure you get a ”manufacturers statement of orgin” or the p…[Read more] -

If my memory is correct, which is highly questionable, London Roadster bought Daytona MiGi bodies to build their cars. There are several variations of LRs ,I’ve not actually seen one with the custom chassis. The LR in Red Hill’s gallery is the only one I’ve seen with the original MG grille. I’m still trying to figure that car out ,the front…[Read more]

Montie, Glad you made it thru the surgery. My wife had that a few years ago and we found that physical therapy is a very important ,tho painful part of recovery. I wish you well.It sure feels different in the passenger seat but this could lead to a good end if she gets hooked on the TD.
