Here’s a link to YouTube (not mine) showing a newly rebuilt VW engine being started and running at low and medium RPM.Only rocks when cranking over at first and it’s just sitting on a cart outside of a VW bus, other than that I can’t see obvious movement (except camera).[TUBE]VPCZXrjg8iM[/TUBE]Startup is at 1:30 time into video.LRH2016-04-11 18:04:44

Hmmmm. Never noticed mine moving during the many times I’ve been back there revving the engine while adjusting timing and carburetor. Doesn’t seem to rock side to side at idle either.Of course now I might be able to see some movement if I actually watch closely next time, having heard it’s possible. And I actually remember when I first got my TDr,… -

Hey there, you’re in my neck of the woods. Maybe you’ll be able to get to some car shows in the area when I’m at them and it’ll be obvious because I haven’t seen another MG TD kit car anyplace, only real ones. Although now I have another, different car to take too so won’t always be going out in the MG TD “replica”.Hope you got a good deal on your… -

Wish you better luck later on. Sure wish I could trade dash boards with you, among other things. If I had been near to you almost exactly a year ago I would have bid up to at least $5600, possibly more, just like I did for my car. The others near me were selling in a $5000 to $8000 range. That’s obviously what keeps the values down even for thes… -

Don’t know, that’s already a whole lot of patience used up to try and keep going with the possibility of more trouble. Of course, I’m often a pessimist instead of optimist. And yet, the optimistic side of me might think that car to be good enough as is and just keep it anyway. That’s probably because once I have anything I can’t let go, not e… -

Great to hear. What was the “class”, if I may ask?I’m still waiting for the 1st car show or cruise-in this year. Love the 2 trophies I got last year but I don’t want any more, feel like I could begin to crave a trophy every time because of the extra attention and fun and that’s not why I go to them. Well, for attention and fun perhaps but nothi… -

I like to bundle events and Chattanooga is on my route to there so it would have been perfect. 🙂 Just will try to make one or the other anyway, weather permitting. -

Interesting. Sounds simple enough without actually having looked at the wiring yet.
I had already looked at that same web site after my message last time, and that’s all I got to see so far. Stopped looking real quick because all I saw there were $125+ LED setups. (was a ‘net search page, 2X4 troffer, now that I’ve looked again)So a big thanks for… -

Thanks for telling of that one, been a few years since I was up there and I had only known of the Pigeon Forge car shows. Gives me a reason to go in the Spring if I decide to do that.
I was able to find a new web page showing the next show, other one is still saying “42” from October 2015 for now.Says “all VW” so maybe… -

Yes, and no car seats for kids.
The good outweighs the bad but I have sympathy for parents needing to go through all the trouble of dealing with those things. Just saw a repeat of a news story I had seen before about little kids wearing winter coats causing a possibility to slip out because of the changes in tightness.Wish it never happened but my… -

Didn’t know there were LED replacements for that.
Going to suggest it to my 83 y.o. father for his house garage because he has had trouble recently with those fluorescent lights. The basement we finished ourselves over 25 years ago uses them in the drop ceiling, very uneven lighting from them.I was there last week changing out the dining room light… -

And to think I never knew those cars existed, as common as they seem to be. My excuse is that I was never very knowledgeable in everything ‘automobile‘. Yet still makes me feel like I wasn’t noticing a particular make/model since I know of so many others, including a few of the more obscure varieties such as 1940’s Tucker which I had learned of…[Read more]

For now I will be monitoring the weather intending to go, unless something else changes my plans for at least a 1 day visit.
I see it’s the weekend of April 16 and 17, via http://www.volksfolks.org/ again at Camp Jordan in East Ridge TN.If I do get my car there I don’t think it’ll be entered for judging, just to show (only $10 vs. $20 or $16 p… -

Looks same as what I have, they’re flat on the back.
Lenses with small circled JF on right side and vertical HALOGEN on left side. There’s a small Phillips/crosshead screw at the bottom of bezel holding the lens, next to bracket.Since yours was painted maybe that got covered over…?If not, I would think the lense or bezel must twist at least… -

Tried finding what that speedometer and fuel gauge is from and only found a 1980’s Ford Escort dash. Doesn’t actually match though, especially because of the indicator lights. They were between the gauges not in them.
Also some kind of Ford truck with 85 MPH speedo, not really like yours.I thought I could narrow it down to a Ford and 85 MPH,… -

Nothing wrong with that!
Since I never drove a WRX, and the Impreza looked about the same to me, it never mattered that I wasn’t driving a turbo race/drift car. Although mine being a hatchback… well… I couldn’t see it from the outside while driving anyhow. 😆 - Load More
