Thanks for showing how you did that. I forgot about the wheel wells. I’ve got the seatback adjuster brackets, doesn’t really do anything except hold onto the seat because it’s tight up against the wheel wells with little to no forward movement possible.

All this is making me anxious to get back to doing things with the car.

Same steering wheel as Spechols, and it is under the dash.

Since I’ve got to look at all that because of my steering trouble I’ll see if it can be moved upward at all. I recall the shaft/rod exposed under the hood is a tight fit against the gas tank or side panel. I could be remembering wrong. Farther into the dash would help most, meaning cutting…

Don’t know about Bill … my previous DD was a Subaru Impreza Sport AWD.
No significant snow until 8 years after I bought it. Finally got to try driving in about 6 inches (8″ off the road), same as its ground clearance. Only drove a couple miles when I realized the wheel wells were solid with snow and ice making turns…

I sure could use that extra 3″ back from the steering wheel, at just 175 Lbs and 6′ tall.

Thought about cutting away at the shelf behind the seat if that could be done without weakening whatever structure there, maybe just reinforcing it differently afterward.
Just changing the seatback itself sounds much easier, if the padding could still be…

  • Almost makes me want to get on the road today in the snow while it isn’t freezing yet. 😉 Naaaah!

Looks like NC will be warmer but wetter than normal during the next few months, if weather predictions are to be believed. Average for where I am though, and May tends to have a little more rain than April.
About the getting in and out of car with side…

Alright, thanks for the suggestions. It’ll be a while before I’m looking it over. No heated garage for my car so going to wait until the outside temps get into the 50’s again.

I’ve got to remove my steering wheel and broken turn signal switch anyhow so maybe I can find out what’s going on at the upper end, if anything is wrong there.
    New gear box…

For the little I know about it I think it was okay, and although I would call it a disk instead of donut I’m sure we’re both talking about the same thing. Metal brackets on either side, 2 bolts each and offset so they only attach to the disk/donut, not directly connecting the shaft and gear box.

I believe the shaft side isn’t aligned to that, so if…

Thanks John, yeah I was wondering where a U-joint might be if there was one. I’m going to read through all that.

I had used the YouTube video already, which is why I thought I could do that easily enough.
There’s another showing a large wrench cinching up the tightness at the shaft end of the box, but I think it was a different model year version of…

Ah, okay, I thought that must be what you meant. That’s how I’m driving mine now, just folding back the driver side of the tonneau cover and tucking it behind the seat.

Yeah, the fun factor hasn’t stopped yet for me these past 10 months. Probably partly due to not driving the car much but it’s so different anyway and I always wanted this style of…

And here’s the whole video I put together, just showing the steering parts moving before and after adjustment. Steering wheel play is afterward, almost same as before or maybe going from 3 inches play to 2 inches. I didn’t actually measure.

Misaligned(?) shaft/rod is at time 1:11 in this video.

Don’t know if I’m understanding you right, a tonneau maybe?
Or do you mean a hardtop by any chance? I know that hardtops have been talked of before. Found this just now:
I was also looking yesterday for the wheels you have. Maybe those are early 90’s Honda Accord but I was…

LOL yeah, you should have seen me wincing at my photos when I was getting them from the camera!
Whoever bolted on the front side panels  of my car didn’t seem to care if it was crushing it. At least I doubt they’ll ever work themselves loose!

Original headlight brackets is a great thing to see on these cars, and that folding windshield too. Hope you can get your convertible top fixed, I’ve been noticing that tear at the bow from your other pictures.

  • Upper front corners of my hood are raised slightly, I had remembered. Wasn’t sure just how the overall fit was so I got the camera out for a couple pictures. (side panel is blacker in these flash pictures!)

    Here’s the windshield end:

I could see the rubber seal behind the widest gap, near to camera there, but hidden in this side view.

  • Of the 3 choices: 90’s Corvette convertible.

  • Hadn’t thought of that being an option on these cars, I’ve managed to try starting in gear only a couple times. Maybe I’ve learned my lesson by now. Been more than 25 years since I had “4 on the floor” until getting my TDr.

My Yamaha motorcycle has this too, wired at the clutch lever and shifter so doubly “safe”. Many people bypass it the moment…

Welcome aboard!  Hadn’t heard of anyone doing an electric conversion, of course I haven’t been into these cars a year yet so many new things to me still.

Searched just now and found this electric MG TD replica:
And someone else here at tdreplica had posted the same a few years ago.
  • That blurred picture of your car is almost as bad as I see without my eyeglasses on.
    😆

Now my eyes are tired. 😉 That’s a bunch of pictures you linked to back in August that I must have missed seeing before.

So many car colors. I thought maybe my black car would be a common one. Maybe not, eh?
    Thanks for the picture show!
  • Or just add seats and drive it on Daytona Beach.

Yeah, gee, I didn’t pay much more for my completed car; including top with boot, side curtains and tonneau cover. Gratefully so.
And to think that price is actually less than a new kit was 25 years ago without the donor car.
Maybe someone will eventually get it for several grand just to have fun…
