You’ve got the same wheel covers/hubcaps I have – none. What are you going to put on there? I took off my fake wire wheel covers, plus I only had 4 when I got the car, and I like the look better with the bare wheels. You also can just get center hub covers and leave the bolts exposed, but I’ll probably find some baby moons somewhere. What did you…[Read more]

Isn’t there some sort of unwritten rule that you must be 60 years old or more to be able to own one of these cars? Nobody in their 30’s should be allowed to have one.

Mine’s the 16th, a 70 milestone but don’t tell me that.Seems like March is a popular month for TD’ers. And your SS check doesn’t come ’till the 3rd Wed. of the month.

If the starting bid on that car is $20,000 and he gets anything close to that, then mine is worth a minimum of $15,000 with totally rebuilt engine (from the case up), plus new fuel pump, coil, carb, new tires, brakes, top, radio etc.,etc., plus other stuff I forgot.I still don’t know why the Speedsters get 3-4 X as much for their cars as we do -…[Read more]

I would never had expected anything like that since I have been on this site, (just about every day, reading through every thread and post on here since joining). That is truly disturbing and I hate to hear things like that. Everyone on here that I have read or conversed with has been super nice and extremely helpful, (and I hope maybe I have…[Read more]

When you’re looking over the car, check the date stamps on the tires to see how old they are.

Incredible, and sounds good too.I had a ’50 Merc without the visor and it looked just like that. I’d like to see him get in and out of that.

It looks great and I hope it lasts a number of years. It would be a real pain to have to remove the gauges and switches from the dash and resand it and apply more layers of topcoat. But then it’ll look great for another few years.:-)

Nice job. That looks too good to leave out in the sun and weather. Is that coating going to be UV resistant?

You could easily wire a loud siren alarm into it, sensing electrical draw, and most come with some sort of motion detector too, if you just wanted some kind of deterrent for people messing with it, or to notify you of that. I have a motorcycle alarm I never hooked up and I was debating going through the little effort to put that on my car.

That’s like washing a small spot off the kitchen wall, then you have to keep going and going until you’ve scrubbed down the whole kitchen. No such thing as a little project, sometimes better to leave it alone. But it’ll be well worth it when you’re done.

The reviews of that seem OK. but unless there was some sort of sure-fire locking mechanism, I wouldn’t get under that. You have to rely on more than just the hydraulic cylinders. It says it’s only 7′ long and 57″ wide – is that wide enough so the supports under the car can reach out to the side rails and/or to something solid at the front and…[Read more]
