I still check eBay for small stuff like parts, etc. But as far as complete vehicles I’m done.
My ’40 Ford was on eBay and didn’t sell. I contacted the seller and made an offer after the auction ended based on the description and some more questions. The car was a POS when I got it and almost NOTHING in the description was true. His reply, “I…[Read more] -

I even invested in that tool to lower/raise the spring plate so that it doesn’t guillitine your arm off.
It’s a PITA job, but not that hard. Each torsion bar (left and right) have a different amount of splines, one side of the bar has finer splines than the other.
I removed mine from the Pink MG and re-indexed them after having .100″ turned off of…[Read more] -

IMHO eBay sucks for buying vehicles. There used to be good stuff up there sold by honest people.
However, I believe that since early in the 2000’s, it started to become a dumping ground for misrepresented vehicles…”to the best of my knowledge”, “as far as I know” and “I’m listing it for a friend” are the terms used to say “I just lied my ass o…[Read more] -

Great News! You got out in the open air. Thanks for sharing your joy.
Now that Daylight Savings Time is upon us, it won’t be long before we see a 70 degree day here in NJ. It was almost 60 on Saturday. There are still a few stubborn piles of snow left in parking lots though. Hard to believe it was from the 26-27 December 2010 blizzard.

Don’t know where you are located, but my original “Pink MG” which became Bill Collins “Angelica” was sold a couple years ago to guy just off the Washington D.C. beltway in Virginia.
A week or so ago, Larry Murphy spotted it on eBay. Maybe if you PM’d Bill, he has the guy’s name and phone number?
I built the car, Bill added/changed some equipment…[Read more] -

Ed, the VW and Chevette shifter bushings are both nylon, but that’s where the similarity stops.
The VW bushing acts like a true bushing with the tubular shifter shaft riding through it.
The Chevette “bushing” is actually a “U” shaped foot that fits onto a machined area of the shift shaft and the shifter handle “fork” slips over it.
Both of these…[Read more] -

Welcome to the forum. All the kits have a potential to be a lot quicker than an original MG-TD. As you already know, straight line acceleration is determined mainly by the horsepower to weight ratio.
That being said, several options for a project TD kit arise:
1) VW based: The lightest of the kits and probably the most vibrant aftermarket of the 3…[Read more] -

As far as that $150 “034” vacuum advance distributor, the module is Chinese, not a Pertronix. I bought one…it lasted about 500 miles. I bought another from aircoooled.net (John Connelly) that has a modified Pertronix Ignitor I installed. It was $100 more than the Chinese POS. This is in…[Read more] -
